Suns keen on appointing a 'proven coach' or something like that so they're apparently after Rodney Eade.

This is stupid every club should be included in this Melbourne weren't the only clubs who didn't pick up these players (apart from the Scully and Watts selection)

plus they might not have turned out to be good players at melbourne.

Who knows Scully Trengove Watts could have been stars at other clubs.

Scully is at another club?

Scully is at another club?

Yeah but those first years are the most crucial. Melbourne just don't know how to build their youngsters. Now it's too late for him, the damage has been done.

I agree that the Neeld/Bailey era was...well...I think we all know how it went. But I don't think that Scully was just so traumatised by his time at the club that he couldn't develop in to the player many people thought he would. At some point the player needs to be held accountable. Just look at what Nathan Jones has achieved - he's improved every year. The player needs to have the will to improve as well - it's not all just up to the club.

Western Bulldogs have delisted Mark Austin and Alex Greenwood. Jack Redpath has been moved to the senior list.

Ricochet

Apparently Rodney Eade has been offered a 4 year deal to coach GC

Saints have delisted Schneider but will re-draft him in the rookie draft

And Terry Milera. So we can rookie upgrade Maverick Weller!

He's moving from the senior list to the rookie list?
Instead of getting rid of him altogether, they're keeping him on the rookie list.

I understand the process but disagree with the logic. If he isnt good enough to be on the primary list, then you would better off getting another young rookie in surely?

Experience etc etc sure, but he has one year left, wont play a senior game unless they get the right LTI to upgrade him. They are obviously 'doing the right thing' by each other, to allow weller to come up and effectively take schneiders senior list spot.

But why not just give him a coaching role, he could still play in the 2nds, mentor the youth and another young guy gets a rookie contract?

they're keeping him for that specific LTI I guess.

We've done it several times with older blokes. Just so we could upgrade Weller to the Senior List without having the delist anyone else. And Schneids will just play when someone goes on the LTI list...

Ricochet

Can't underestimate how much experience and leadership adds to a playing group, even if they are just on the rookie list
