It's been rumoured for some time, but now it's official.
@ClarkyHeraldSun: CONFIRMED: GWS No. 2 draft pick Jono O'Rourke has requested a trade. Giants want a first-round pick in return. More @superfooty

I reckon he lands at the Saints.

Mr.Craig

GWS certainly ballsed up that draft selection.

Pick 1 for GWS first 2 picks + ORourke. Sounds fair ;)

It's an old article obviously but I found this...

"The formula for compensation is based on the size and length of the contract and the age of the player. For instance, Brendon Goddard would almost certainly deliver a first-round pick. However, there are various permutations. Clubs that lose a player to free agency but gain a player could receive less, depending on the value of the player they recruit. For instance, if St Kilda lost Goddard, but gained another player of less quality, the compensation would be based on the difference between the players, meaning the Saints may only receive a third-round pick plus their new player. If the player gained is judged to be at the same level to the one lost, the relevant club would receive nothing."

Any explanation as to how O'Rourke went at 2 and has barely got games?

Victim of a combination of injuries and the Giants midfield depth.

Going to good teams is almost always a curse.

Apparently the Hawks are leading the race for him...  :o ???

Giants, like most other clubs, want a quality pick or player for him.  :P

I don't think it was a draft screw up, I think the recruiting team went in with the intention of snagging as many extremely talented players from every position with the probability that even if they misfired with some, the others would work out.

There was always a chance that anyone taken at any pick would flop- O'Rourke has just been hampered by injuries for the past few years though and starved of opportunities as other uninjured youngsters subsequently developed faster than him... that being said, easily worth a first round. If I was O'Rourke though I wouldn't want to go to the saints... entirely possible the same situation could unfold again.
