Yes, some of our supporters are flowering feral.

Emphasis on the some Colli. We aren't all like them.

I was disgusted hearing our own fans jeer a man who is a freak footballer, ripper bloke but most of all INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

Seriously Colli, its a minority and as the game progressed more a more White Goodmans joined in. I agree its wrong that it went down but maybe harbour your hate for WA. Without our mining royalties the Eastern states would be screwed ;)

I can see the frustration there ele, It reminds me of when I hear girls say "all guys a immature jerks" and I'm just sitting here like wtf did I do, lol, anyway, can't believe some eagles fans booed Jobe especially after the Ben Cousins saga. Well done to Jobe, didn't give the crowd anything and played a ripper game. Loved the emotion on the field! What a game! I thought Jake Melksham did some very encouraging things tonight. I also enjoyed Winderlich's game, looks a real threat upfront in patches. And of course Jake Carlisle, amazing again. Oh and Paddy Ryder arguably beat the west coast big men.

Hmm so interesting comment from Damien Barrett today in his sliding doors...

QuoteIF Essendon fans keep taking the moral high ground view over Jobe Watson being booed at Subiaco, THEN they seriously need to get off that high horse. Brent Stanton has never forgotten being booed by his own supporters. Pathetic.

Not saying it was right that WCE supporters booed Jobe last night, I think it was very poor, but the Brent Stanton situation a couple of years ago (reminder) was pretty similar...

Exactly, every side has had their moments jeering a player. I reiterate though, I felt last night was extremely poor from our supporters.

Honestly, the Ben Cousins and Jobe Watson sagas are really an odd comparison.

Ben Cousins 'allegedly' took recreational drugs and was later deemed an addict. The drugs were never taken more than a week out from a game (he would get on them directly after the game the previous week) and were not performance enhancing thus not giving himself and/or his team an unfair advantage. If anything, getting on the gear would hamper an elite athlete.. Cousins was never proven guilty of having drugs in his system but was banned for 12 months on suspicion. No drug tests actually found drugs in his system but he did openly admit to being an addict.

Now Jobe admitted to taking a performace enhancing substance that is illegal, although, he is claiming he was unaware of the ramifications. There is absolutely no doubt what he was taking was/is illegal but it is now just a matter of the extent of his ban (feel terrible for the bloke and will be shattered if he loses his brownlow).

The point I'm trying to make is comparing the two situations is pretty sketchy due to the nature of the drug use and also the evidence surrounding them.

I was at the game my son and myself didn't like the fact they were booing Watson and the supporters around us weren't booing in fact there were that many comments telling these other idiots to shut up and stop doing it.

The Bombers supporters also need to step back and take a look at themselves. We went to the Bombers v Lions game whilst in Melbourne which was the game that resulted in Merrett and Clarke being suspended. After both incidents throughout the rest of the game Bombers supporters around us were yelling out things to both players and some of it wasn't very nice for the many children sitting in the area and every time Merrett or Clarke had the ball they were booed.
There is no difference between the two situations as none of the parties had been found guilty of anything at the time.

We don't actually have freedom of speech in our constitution, and booing isn't really speaking.

I don't think it's something to be cracked down on- what it does though is reflect poor characters of a supporter base. I'd probably only boo a player if they did something really disgustingly dog on the field at the game I was act.

yes, let's boo watson because he's the only one at essendon with the gonads to man up and say that he thinks they may have taken performance enhancing drugs, which at the time he didn't know about.

let's boo him for being the only person with a reasonable conscience at the entire club.

as for watson being innocent until proven guilty... he's admitted his 'guilt' in taking the drug, the only question now is whether it was illegal or not at the time.

He's admitted to taking the AOD but thats not an admittance of guilt.

It's only an admittance of guilt if he was proven to take the drugs when they were illegal. The jury is still out.

And as for your comment about our constitution, as a democratic state, a key feature of this political system is power to the people/freedom of speech.
