Round 4

Rising Star

Whilst it's been a slow start for Pacific so far this year (compared to their lofty standards), some new faces have done them some good, with WXV debutant Jack Ross (87) taking home the Round 4 Rising Star nomination, edging out PNL's Bailey Smith (75).

Jack Scrimshaw (Buenos Aires), Josh Rotham (Moscow) and Liam Baker (Beijing) could have all got the nomination if played in the seniors, with 98, 98 and 91 scored respectively.

Team of the Week

Patrick Cripps is the VERY deserving Captain of this week's team, both on the 'highest points' metric and the 'match winning performance' metric. In fact, the top 3 scorers this week in Cripps, Grundy and Merrett were all selected as captains!

In other news, David Mundy is a new yet old face to TOTW, Dylan Grimes is just totally new, whilst the performances of Jack Redden [145] (Toronto) and Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti [143] (Tokyo) go unrecognised.

This is also Travis Boak's 4th from 4 TOTW appearances!

D: Shannon Hurn (New Delhi), Lachie Whitfield (Tokyo), Brandon Ellis (Beijing), Dylan Grimes (London)
M: Patrick Cripps [C] (Rio de Janeiro), Zach Merrett (PNL), Lachie Neale (Beijing), Tom Rockliff (Beijing)
R: Brodie Grundy [VC] (Beijing)
F: David Mundy (Berlin), Travis Boak (Toronto), Isaac Heeney (New York), Jack Billings (PNL)
I: Sebastian Ross (Tokyo), Brad Ebert (Cape Town)

Coach: Toga (Beijing)

Well done Jack, 25 touches in your first game of AFL.  Keep that up and we will have to add you to the leadership group.

Few good Thunder boys repping Beijing the last couple of weeks 8)

Love seeing the pig back in there!

4/4 for Boaky, hopefully the Hutchings tags goes elsewhere this weekend and the streak continues.

Round 5

Rising Star

He had big props pre-season, and he lived up to them in his debut WXV performance. Mexico City's Jackson Hately (95) his Round 5's rising star nominee, edging out Christchurch's Brent Daniels. Cobra Petrucelle (100) and Revolter Ben Paton (95) will rue what could have been, whilst Hately's teammate Sam Walsh (112) was the biggest performer of the round.

Team of the Week

He was right the whole time. Harry McKay's almost match winning performance sees him earn an unlikely Captain's gig, ahead of the more likely suspect Adam Treloar. The handsomest coach around gets coach of the week honours, making that 5 different coaches in 5 rounds!

Meanwhile, David Mackay says hi to the would-be victorious Cobras.

D: Brad Sheppard (London), Shannon Hurn (New Delhi), James Sicily (Mexico City), Jack Crisp (Moscow)
M: Adam Treloar (Moscow) [VC], Zach Merrett (PNL), Ed Langdon (New Delhi), Ricky Henderson (Cairo)
R: Max Gawn (Berlin)
F: Harry McKay [C] (Christchurch), Michael Walters (Berlin), Sam Petrevski-Seton (Moscow), Orazio Fantasia (London)
I: Tim Kelly (Toronto), Patrick Dangerfield (Seoul)

Coach: Purple 77 (Berlin)

That's 2/5 rising star nominees  8)

No surprise with the amount of bargains you landed in the draft

#24
Round 6

Rising Star

In a performance that would baffle Ralph Wiggum, Cape Town's Josh Battle (110) produced a break out performance to indisputable claim the round 6 nomination.

Team of the Week

A lot more familiar faces in this one! GAJ & Pendles take us back to their fantasy glory days, Boak takes out his 5th TOTW appearance, Laird, Grundy, Gawn, Neale, Sicily... all fairly vanilla!

So naturally the eye turns to Nick Vlastuin leading from the front, whilst it was also good to see #MundyThreeHundy get a spot.

And well done to Toges for becoming our first multiple TOTW coach!

D: Nick Vlastuin [C] (Cairo), Bachar Houli (New Delhi), James Sicily (Mexico City), Rory Laird (Pacific)
M: Gary Jnr Ablett [VC] (Toronto), Lachie Neale (Beijing), Scott Pendlebury (New Delhi), Tim Taranto (Rio de Janeiro)
R: Max Gawn (Berlin)
F: Travis Boak (Toronto), Kane Lambert (Beijing), Mitch Robinson (Cairo), David Mundy (Berlin)
I: Tom Hickey (Mexico City), Brodie Grundy (Beijing)

Coach: Toga (Beijing)

Round 7

Rising Star

Starring in his teams masterclass performance over Berlin, Rio de Janeiro's Tarryn Thomas (107) has beaten all other challengers to be crowned the Round 7 Rising Star nominee. Runners up include Seoul's Zurhaar (95) stuck in the reserves, and Cape Town's Gryan Miers (92) flourishing in the seniors.

Team of the Week

Co-captains this week! Pacific's Andrew Gaff consolidated his sides win, whilst Moscow's George Hewett was the difference for the Spetsnaz. PNL's defensive duo Ryan & Crozier were pivotal in the Reindeers win over Cairo, and a special shout out to Dillo Dumont for one of his first appearances in the TOTW.
