Samuel Collins has been one of the main reasons that Gold Coast are competing for a finals spot in 2020 as his presence at full back has been a welcome fillip for a defensive unit smashed by injuries in recent seasons. He has developed a happy knack for intercept marking, which has attracted some fantasy interest as they love a defender who can rack up +6s. His position on the last line, however, limits his fantasy value to exotic scoring formats as the Suns don't tend to play kick to kick with a quicker attacking mindset. He's worth a look as a spot start, nonetheless.

Collins needs a stiff drink
Following a dominant season at Werribee which culminated in finishing third in the J.J. Liston Medal as a key defender, Samuel Collins' season was cut short after suffering a stress fracture in his femur. Prior to injury, the ex-Docker was ranked third in the competition for intercept marks and was a reliable long kick to launch attacks. Collins unfortunately has struggled to overcome the surgery which originally was expected to sideline him for six weeks. The key tall was expected to increase his running post the Christmas break. Rarely do key position defenders translate their performances into fantasy production and the Sun continues the trend.
Lemons for Collins
After two years with the Dockers and one out of the AFL-listed system playing for Werribee in the VFL, Samuel Collins returns to the big league to cover the Suns' woefully inadequate key defensive stocks. Collins was not any kind of fantasy scorer at Fremantle and will most likely be the deepest defender at Gold Coast. He will have to watch out for sunburn on the roof on his mouth as he gazes at the footy sailing over his head.
