A devastating ACL injury put early end to another promising season from utility Jarman Impey. Regularly fielded as a speedy rebounding defender, the ex-Power player enjoyed career highs in disposal and mark outputs, while significantly improving his disposal efficiency. Impey suffered the injury in mid-June and is expected to take the full twelve months to rehabilitate. A non-factor for fantasy coaches' 2020 campaigns.
Impey jumps on chance
Known for his pace and ferocity at the contest, Jarman Impey enjoyed a successful first campaign in brown and gold, mostly starting through half forward with regular stints on the wing, culminating in career highs for disposals, marks and metres gained. Relishing the increased freedom of his role, shifting from a pressure forward at Port Adelaide, Impey gathered a touch under six more uncontested possessions per game in 2018. The former second round selection enjoyed a personal best 25 touches against the Lions, demonstrating his potential for further growth. The Hawks are still short on pace and as a byproduct, Impey is unlikely to be seriously challenged for his role in the starting side. However, the Hawk is unlikely to warrant fantasy selection, having never won enough of it at junior or senior level.
Exhibit J: Impey might ride
Experienced at both ends of the ground, Jarman Impey was given stability by Ken Hinkley last season, featuring permanently as a small forward. He was unable to repay the faith, and kicked just 15 goals for the season. Curious minds are searching for the spot Clarkson envisions Impey will play. Whilst Paul Puopolo begins to slow a small forward role may beckon, however speed on the wing is a current deficiency with the departure of Billy Hartung. Arriving at the age of 22, the durable Impey still has time to improve on past performance. If he does log extended midfield minutes, he may prove to be a value selection off the free agent pool.
