Cody Weightman has not had anywhere near an All-Australian kind of year, and he's too old for Rising Star, plus an early injury curtailed his preparation. He comes to the finals off the back of a middling campaign, but with the weather turning sour tonight it might be he who becomes the matchwinner while all the focus is on the Bulldogs' emerging young talls. He will get Blake Hardwick sitting on him tonight, unless the Hawks get in scoreboard trouble and have to swing Dimma forward. He looms as the X-factor in a tight tussle between two in-form sides.

Weightman just can't wait
Oozing with X-factor, Cody Weightman was recruited to fill a void in the Bulldogs' attacking 50. The crafty small forward had an outstanding Championships to excite the scouts by finishing as Vic Country's leading goalkicker, after averaging 15 touches in the NAB League and contributing over a goal a game there too.
Weightman is in line for a round 1 debut considering the lack of small forwards on the Bullie roster. Expect the clean finisher to play and deliver inconsistent scores in his first year, peppered with a few showings for the highlights reel. Did someone say Gryan Miers version 2.0? If he proves that he can find the footy at senior level, grab him from the free agent pool.
