Ben Miller has one of the most important skills for a modern AFL player: being very tall. As such he has filled a variety of roles at the rebuilding Tigers, including key positions at either end of the ground plus helping out in ruck to varying degrees depending on the fitness of teammates. Recent trouble surrounding Noah Balta has meant his presence on field is more necessary than ever, and if Balta's career is headed for the skids then it is Miller who will have to hold the spine of the team together for 200 games or more. Is he up to the task?

Miller put through ringer
A pure athlete who didn't have as much footy in his background as many other juniors, Ben Miller came to Richmond as a utility and was sent to defence, where he has played out two VFL seasons in the spine concentrating on stopping. Miller has undergone a full apprenticeship, somewhat of a rare thing in the AFL these days but it is now his time in the wake of the retirement of Alex Rance. He does not look like a fantasy player at all, nevertheless, with stat lines more like Daniel Talia.
Different hat for Miller
Coming to the club with ability to play anywhere on the ground, Ben Miller was settled in defence at VFL level in his first listed season, concentrating on everything except disposals. Miller is being groomed as the long-term backup for David Astbury, which means he's not going to be a fantasy-relevant player even if he eventually plays 200 senior games.
Not quite Miller time
Playing mostly in ruck with some resting forward and short stints in defence at WAFL Colts level for Subiaco, Ben Miller made top three for hit outs at the Championships for WA. With the Tigers also taking Callum Coleman-Jones much earlier in the same draft, Miller will develop in the VFL alongside him, probably in a supporting forward/ruck role.
