A midseason mini preseason did wonders for Oscar McDonald as he had struggled with form and injury. After being a fixture in the side from 2017-18 at full back, he was dropped on three occasions last season. McDonald will be seeking improved job security following the departure of Sam Frost. A defence-first mindset rarely lends itself to fantasy scoring and McDonald is no different. Go looking for the red texta.

Young McDonald had a fist
Befitting his lack of mobility, Oscar McDonald was shifted more from CHB to full back in 2018, and subsequently got a lot less of the ball in his hands and more of it on his knuckles. The move takes McDonald out of fantasy relevance completely, not that anyone was going to win a championship with him in their starting team. Melbourne might, though!
Central role for Oscar
CHB is now Oscar McDonald's spot to keep in the Melbourne side, with brother Tom McDonald going forward. He is a middling opponent, often beaten by the elite forwards. Demon fans and coaches would prefer the ball not be in McDonald's hands, as he can commit some awful clangers even though his efficiency is near 80%. Not a fantasy player.
