Ex-Hawk Kaiden Brand only managed 15 matches across his last two seasons at Hawthorn, given a fresh look through delisted free agency. Never has the noble backman averaged more than 65 points, with his output decreasing annually since 2017. Brand arrives at Sydney as a supportive key position player who'll have to compete with Lewis Melican and Jack Maibaum for the third tall role. Overly focused on shutting down his opponent, Brand shouldn't be drafted.

Brand is a bit bland
Entering a seventh year at Waverley Park, Kaiden Brand has developed into a depth player, playing the final six home and away matches last season before being dropped for September when James Sicily returned from injury. Kaiden Brand will again rely on injuries to teammates to force his way into the senior side. Well behind in last season’s pecking order, the Hawks number 30 will continue to bide his time in the VFL. Never a player to engage on the rebound, Brand will not be a worthy fantasy selection.
Defence is on Brand
Making his debut in 2016, Kaiden Brand managed a sustained period in the senior side, not missing a game from round 10 onwards. He gained in confidence as the season wore on, bested by Joathon Patton with 5 goals against in round 16 before quieting the influence of Tom Hawkins and Levi Casboult thereafter. Brand is still learning to quell the opposition threat. Given this defensive minded outlook on the game, others such as Ryan Burton and Grant Birchall will be charged with launching attacks from within the back half, rendering him rather useless to our fantasy sides.
