how is one meant to practice bowling bouncers? it's not as if it would have been out of the blue

Not just practice bowling bouncers, but also facing bouncers. Not harsh at all to bowl bouncers in the nets.

I tried playing cricket last week. Only got two bruises :D Inside edge onto my thigh (I never wore a thigh guard), and another one off the helmet onto the shoulder.

Years and years back when I used to play, remember one time I was facing a left arm bowler for like the 2nd time ever (but this guy was quick). Like 3rd ball I faced, inside edge onto the inside of my right thigh. Very next ball, quick and swung a bit and got through and hit the inside of my left thigh. Was very painful the next day haha.

Mailman the 2nd

When I used to play I wasn't particularly good at playing balls off my hip so my coach would go into the nets with the auto bowling machine and for an hour I'd have to play 120km balls all aimed right there.

I was only like 13-14 at the time and I now have a pretty strong tolerance to pain thanks to the hundreds of welts I got on my thighs
