Yeah I'm happy they've brought Burns in.. Only if they don't mess him around like they did with Hughes and Doolan.
And Smith and Cowan and Khawaja. Granted that messing around with Smith turned out to be a good thing, not sure he'd still be around if they told him to stay as a bowler. Amazing that the bloke that made his debut at number 8 as Australia's long term 'replacement' (You can't actually replace Warney) for Shane Warne is now the test captain and the best batsman in the country o_O

Yep Khawaja is another one PB.

Was ridiculous what they did to Hughes though. Comes into the team as an opener, then dropped, then is the next Ponting at number 3, then finished his career batting at 6 in England.

What they should do with Burns is say "You're batting at 6 until Rogers retires, then you'll open the batting no matter what." And a few low scores shouldn't change that. Stick with him!

hope Burns does well! if he is Rogers replacement!

Nige

Actually, it does kinda make sense.

If Burns is the Rogers replacement, give him a run in the team now and then bump him up to opener when the time comes!  8)

Sweetness

I like that plan.

Burns does surprise but great to see a young bloke get a chance.  Was young player of the year in 2012/13.  At 25 years of age hope he gets a fair run unlike others mentioned here which I agree with.

So happy that Burns is in the team!!! He's a great young cricketer and the future at the top of the order.

Calling it now, a century on debut for the great man 8)

Re: next keeper

Won't be the next one, but probably the one after; Sam Harper

Mate of mine who IIRC is in the Bushrangers 2nd XI, captained Victoria U19s I think it was (or possibly Australia) in a number of tournaments, and just got a rookie contract with the Melbourne Stars. Played in their practice match last week and took a screamer behind the stumps apparently. Here's the link to the practice match report. He only turned 18 last week as well, has some amazing talent.
Have played against and trained with him, the bloke can seriously bat!

Yeah he lives across the road from me, so played with him and his brother, and got coached by his dad. It's actually ridiculous how good his entire family is at basically any sport haha

What about Tom Healy? He was the Australia U19 keeper recently.

Was going to comment on him but thought I would be accused of Qld Bias. Got a great coach in dad.  dad reckons he is better than he was at that age.

You could also throw in Jake Doran who is currently only 18 years and 19 days old, but is already being touted as the best young batsman in Australia, who can also keep.. His achievements at his age is unbelievable.

Burns looked ok last night in the BBL. Not as good as Hussey but still good
