Mr.Craig

In retrospect that 5 year deal he got seems...less than wise. You look at his last four years and there's basically been zero improvement. It's a shame because I think everyone can see the potential there but it's just not being realised.

The sad thing is that I think the only spot for him where he can flourish atm is CHB. Looks weak and lost as the 3rd tall fwd :(

Mr.Craig

I think part of the problem is psychological tbh.

Mailman the 2nd

Eh I'm a lot less skeptical. He's still only 23 years old and I think his goalkicking has actually been cleaned up a lot. I think the fact that Adam Goodes is in the side as a 4th tall just disrupts his on field ability too much. As soon as Tippet and Franklin came in with Goodes Reid was never going to be kicking more than 20-25 goals in a season with them.

Not to mention he had a really crap year last year with injury which derailed all his good progress in 2011 and 2012 so I don't think his return this year was that bad.

I would hardly say there's been 0 improvement over the 4 years. He was going really well up until last year and he's getting back on track

Mr.Craig

I was speaking more from a statistical viewpoint. There obviously should have been development in certain areas between the ages of 19 and 22 but until you actually see the results on the park it's hard to quantify that as an outsider.

Mailman the 2nd

31 goals in 2012 for a 20 year old was a good improvement from his first real season in 2011. Had he not got injured and Tippett hadn't been traded in I would've been confident he could've gone to 40-50 goals in a season.

Now the entire landscape for him has changed. It's easy for a small guy to hang around the big two and keep their stats up but for a young Tall like him he was never going to open up the field on his return. He's not even in the main trio targets like the Hawks have he's a bit more like a David Hale type player (obviously not a serious ruckman though).

This year he's added a couple of utility skills to his kit in the ruck and defence (e.g. when he saved the game vs. Port) to the point where I think the 5 year deal was justified.

I think at the time we didnt have a lot of choice, there were plenty of teams ready to offer him a good long deal. He hasnt gone on as well as we might have hoped, but with Tippett and Buddy there now he needs to play a role rather than be the 40-50 goal a year fwd.
If he gets over the injuries from this year, then he will become more of a factor. In a rotating fwd line his role is easily the hardest and the easiest to criticise.

Capper

If he can get his body right then he will be a great player either roaming in the forward line or swinging from HB

Nice to see Lloyd Perris get third in the time trial but im wondering if it was meant to be Jake Lloyd instead.
QuoteHiscox took an early lead and consistently increased his gap on the field throughout the time-trial, taking out the honours from Rampe, Lloyd Perris, Cunningham and Dan Robinson.

Wouldnt have thought he would be back so soon after his 2nd ACL reco

Looks to be right, which is great news for all my respective Xv's that I took him in!!

Further down the article

" Tom Derickx, Aliir Aliir and Perris all returned following the respective injuries which ruled them out of the second-half of the 2014 season, with Perris particularly impressive on his resumption from a ruptured anterior cruciate "

that is outstanding if he has done that, or some of the boys need to lift a lot

Good article here: http://www.sydneyswans.com.au/news/2014-11-25/swans-confident-in-draft-depth

Particularly:
QuoteWhile the Swans will play a small role on draft night, Beatson confirmed the club would be more active at the Rookie Draft on December 3.
"We'll have a minimum of four picks in the rookie draft," he said.

"There might be some target areas that we need to identify and see whether we can assist the list.

"That of course depends on who is there and who gets through the National Draft.

"Our earliest pick in the rookie draft will still be pick 17, so we're a fair way in."

My Chumps

With Heeney officially joining last night, does he contend straight away for a starting spot over Lloyd/Cunningham?
