Spetsnaz Complete A 6th Victory As Griffen Stars!

After an amazingly close encounter with the Wolves last week the Spetsnaz boys put in a big showing against the Warriors. NIC NAITANUI came in as captain and put in a solid 104 but RYAN GRIFFEN starred with an amazing 176. GRIFF as he is known around the club showed up to training early, put in the hard work and has come out and delivered to perfection also managing a spot in the WXV team of the round as Vice-Captain. CALLAN WARD was a quiet achiever to the coaches this week. Putting in a 128 against the Warriors after a quiet last few weeks. Some of the other good scores this week were NATHAN FYFE's 108, ADAM TRELOAR's 100, HEATH SHAW's 97 and BOB MURPHY's 97. These leaders have done very well against the Warriors and hopefully will continue this form next week.

Some of the poorer scores this week were DUSTIN MARTIN with 67 and DUSTIN FLETCHER with 61. The only 2 Dustin's in the VFL/AFL/WXV history both performed poorly this week. 'Dusty' needs to improve, he started the season on fire but has cooled off and after this week's performance is starting to go cold. 'Fletch' also started well with scores of 85 and 86 but
since then all his scores have been under 75. This needs to improve after some of the reserves scores.

RESERVES

JACK HOMBSCH AND PAUL SEEDSMAN were the only massive standouts in the Reserves with scores of 121 and 145 in a close 2 point win in the Reserves!!!

Suns Burnt As The Spetsnaz Fire Away!

For the first time since last year's qualifying final the Mexico City Suns have been DEFEATED by an AMAZING PERFORMANCE from the MOSCOW SPETSNAZ! HEATH SHAW starred in a team with lots of consistency with tons from Shaw, Dusty Martin, Adam Treloar, Bob Murphy, Angus Monfries, Nic Naitanui and finally our captain against Mexico, Ryan Griffen with a great 129. We now sit in 4th just 1 win away from top spot currently held by the Sao Paulo Pumas. Sadly CHARLIE DIXON has sustained an injury that could leave him out of next week's class with the Brewers. Another potential missing link for the Spetsnaz is MICHAEL WALTERS who has suffered an ankle injury. SHANE TUCK is our only other injury on the senior list with SHAUN HIGGINS on the Long-Term injury list being replaced by GEORGE BURBURY.

Spetsnaz Scores
Defenders: Shaw 147, Dixon 50, Murphy 121, Hombsch 93
Midfielders: Griffen (c) 129x2, Ward 92, Fyfe 77, Treloar 124
Ruckman: Naitanui (vc) 109
Forwards: Martin 126, Monfries 112, Darling 79, Adams 67
Utilities: Seedsman 65, Thomas 97

We're finally starting to really get rolling. We've found a distinct best XV and that should iron out most of the low scoring players we had early in the season. Another thing we've been getting right recently is captain selection. Our captain scores for the season have gone 107, 58, 71, 90, 93, 75, 98, 118, 128, 104 and 129 so had a lot of bad form from rounds 2 to 6 but have recently been picking right.

D: Shaw, Dixon, Murphy, Hombsch
M: Griffen (c), Fyfe, Ward, Treloar
R: Naitanui
F: Martin, Monfries, Darling, Walters
U: Seedsman, Thomas
Best XV Average Age: 22.86
Best XV Average Score: 150 points

Luckily recently we've had very little injuries compared to early on, as Torp has said we've only really been missing Dixon and Walters over the last few rounds instead of at time 5-6 of our best XV out, and that's paid off with scores of 147, 150 and 162 in the last three weeks, each setting a new team scoring record for the season. Tucky is still to come back, will have to show some good form to break past Seedsy and Thomas.

For the Pumas our captain scores have been... 178, 99, 112, 131, 160, 137, 152, 112, 149, 129, 153 contributing a total of 3,024 points to our scores this year (doubled). Just the one bad selection in round 2...

How many different players have you had? I'm thinking 1 :P

We've tried Tucky (107, 58, 71), Ward (90, 75), Fyfe (93, 128), Dusty (118), NicNat (104), Heater (98) and Griff (129). Now that Griff is like the best player in the world would expect him to be captain nearly every week.

CrowsFan

Haha yes fine I have only tried the one. But then again why change something that works? :P

If Ablett does ever go down injured quietly confident we will be fine on the captain's front. Got Walker (scores above 120: 150, 141, 140, 137, 137, 124),  Minson (143, 133, 127, 126, 120) or Sloane (146, 134, 129) who could all step in to the role :)

Representative Round Reflection

Moscow star RYAN GRIFFEN gets away a kick for Eurasia. Ryan had 38 possessions, 7 marks and 4 tackles and was one of the best for Eurasia.

5 Moscow players represented EurAsia in their clash against the AAP Alliance, being a large factor in the 11 point upset victory. RYAN GRIFFEN yet again showed his amazing talent with a superb 143 as vice-captain to increase his average for the season to 125 (133 without his injury-affected match). HEATH SHAW continued his good form this season with 136 to further establish himself as the best backman in the competition. NAT FYFE recovered from a disappointing match against the Suns with a great 131. NIC NAITANUI and DUSTIN MARTIN also provided good scores for EurAsia.
