I also for some reason thought Merrett wasn't playing opening round

I did too, the round zero does my head in, Merrett is actually a good pick this year, pity I can't afford him.

I like both options, might assist with that round 3 bye now Mills is out for the first month of the season.

Back to the drawing board then, thought I was close to settled. Maybe Milera?

I "want" the mid priced mids, but I think I "need" the mid priced defenders. Talk Travaglia and Saad may not debut it's pretty slim pickings down there unless a couple of Richmond lads get up.

I'm not super keen on the Rivers, Sam, Milera, Schoe options and gone slightly cold on Roberts for the price. Backline is proving difficult.

Mat0369

I'm leaning towards a prem mid out again, 4 prem defenders and someone like Cerra to go with Oliver and Ashcroft

I had Butters in for Daicos and Serong for Merrett. Turns out Butters is now out to start the year so that plan is out the window.

Ringo

Keep an eye on the Rd 3 bye though.  Stewart, Daicos and W Ashcroft all have that bye. Personally prefer only one prem for the early bye rounds 2 at a pinch.

#22
While I continue to go through my watchlist of players earlier in the thread, I figured I should post some of my drafts. I think I have 5 screenshotted on my PC and some are earlier in the thread, but I'll post my last couple with my train of thought

Once it was announced Bont was out, I completely gutted my team, added my locks and built the squad from there. There was a complete disregard for the early byes, hence Roberts, Perryman, Smith and Daicos. My locks in this team were Sheez, Daicos, O'Driscoll, Tstatas, Ashcroft, Sheldrick, Knevitt, TDK, Boyd, Macrae, Smith, Parker, Daniel and Davidson. I then filled out the rest of the rookies and prems and tried to bat deep down back with the lack of rookies. I liked Libba with Bont out and played around with my cash to try and get the best combo on field.

With the announcement that Brisbane and Geelong will play in round 3, I have made a change to my team yet again.

I really wanted to get Neale, Zorko and Will Ashcroft (who had been in pretty much every other draft) into my side. I needed to dump some players in and out and tried to free up the cash to upgrade Roberts and Perryman to Holmes and Stewart.

I lose Ryan who had been in my side for a while with his solid bye and low ownership. Libba goes down to Ashcroft to give me some cash to tweak the lineup. I have a few worries with this team, but I feel like it gets me out of the hole in a bunch of spots.

Concerns
* Holmes/Stewart don't bounce back or live up to the hype
*Clark after one good season regresses
*No Ryan - if he goes bonkers, does the moving around guys cost me?
* Ashcroft doesn't take the next step
*No Daicos - if he goes nuts, not having him could really hurt
*No Gawn - I started English instead of Gawn last year and it bit me in the ass, history repeats itself?
*A bit light at F5 with SPP and having Davidson on field.
*Lack of cash gen down back with 2 Essendon rookies and them losing a game until who knows when
*Round 16 bye I'll be missing 6 guys already

This will still probably change a few times, but I don't hate it

Bully

I worry about your rucks, I think you need one of Gawn or Xerri, much easier to sideways if things don't work out.

Mat0369

I've been flat out at work and didn't get much of a chance to look at my team. I think I managed to bring Lalor in last minute (thought he was already in) and it looks like I forgot to trade Lynch out. Nank I considered as a ruck option but he also didn't make the late move in. I didn't see the Ashcroft news and he is currently on my field. I need to play around with my side and hopefully get something locked in for tomorrow

I thought I had the VC on TDK, so that sucks. I ended up swapping Ashcroft to Draper now that I can look at the teams. If Marshall is named as the lone ruck I am contemplating English to Marshall and I can use Boyd as my loop for this week. Other option is Reid or Reidy at R3 and maybe Hewett with his DPP if he isn't named.

Lynch may get suspended which sucks, I thought I had him out of my squad but turns out I didn't. It could have been worse, I could have had Motlop in there as a place holder so thank god for that.

Mat0369

I ended up grabbing Meek instead of English so that was a spectacular backfire. Of course chasing the points from last week was a fail. When I saw that both Marshall and Boyd were named I held off the Marshall trade. I should have stuck with English who was my R1 all pre-season and I got cold feet.

Lynch copped a week, that's also fun. It looks like it may get challenged, but being best 18 I'd hold.

Tsatas was a potato, Prior didn't score all that well either. Reid took some nice intercepts but looked like a deer in the headlights with the ball so I'm glad I avoided him so far. The other two on field isn't ideal.

I still have no idea what to do with my rookie situation and I'm also trying to work out my potential loop option. Meek in gave me some decent cash at least.

Mat0369

One thing I will add about Meek, his hits to advantage in this game were ridiculous. He went at almost 40% which is nuts. He just managed to do nothing around the ground. It's a nice floor though if he keeps dominating in the ruck like that

Bully

I'm wondering if Tsatas is a hold? TOG was very low and Langford is out so you'd expect he'll play next week.

Colliwobblers

Meek will be fine he's a beast. One week for Lynch is no worries, Davidson should score well enough to field, fingers crossed because I will be.

Not having NOD or any of the top end rooks other than O'Sullivan, I can't see me holding Tsatas.

50 is actually very good from 57% TOG but now JS comes into play. Have to wonder why he was on the bench so long, I feel like it was the entire start of the game.

One only defender rookie was 100% the play this season.
