Great effort CW!  Cheer 4 dat,

Who would you rather on your bench for back up (not considering cow status, Moo$$$)     T.Adams  or  A. Kennedy

Tough choice, so i thought id ask the experienced Coaches  (The Wise Men) ;)

Plenty may know better than I. The pro's and cons....

Adams - Taken at pick 13 in the National draft, averaged 74 DT and 103 SC in the u18 champs and 103 DT and 127 SC in the TAC CUP, this kid is one of the future stars of the comp we saw this one coming from a LONG way back and he will be a GUN.

Topped 30+ disposals in 5 of his 9 games in TAC CUP, kicks goals, kicks arse, punches on in bars  ;D

As long as his body holds up he SHOULD be a walk up start in the midfield every game, that won;t happen but he should play most, I'm still wondering why we didn't see him earlier but then of the 5 genuine midfielders taken ahead of him in the draft we have only seen more of Coniglio, Greene. Seen a bit of Tyson and Hoskin-Elliot (BUT SUB DUDS). Sumner was taken at 10.

Of the non draftees we have, Shiel, Miles, Clifton to share midfield time with the 5 draftees above and the 4 seniors...

I definately think Adams is ahead of all the other draftees except Coniglio and Greene for JS. Shiel and Clifton and Miles were all exceptioal in the NEAFL last season. And you wouldn't think the seniors would be rotating out any time soon.

As For Kennedy - Taken by GWS pre nom, averaged 98 DT and 123 SC in the TAC CUP.

Kennedy should hold his spot for the season at half back, I reckon he is as safe as a BUGG but you never know. He and Bugg both had run with match up roles on blues in defense last round and sacrificed thier games as a result, thier lack of scoring may mean they did thier job well and have increased thier job security rather than the opposite which a lot of people just looking at the scores may think.

Kennedy will neeed rest like all the others but I think he is pretty safe, Darley, Edwars, Tomlinson and maybe Buntine (KPP but apparantly can run and attack out of defense like he isn't a KPP) are his only competitors for spots down back in the role he plays. Of those I only rate Tomlinson, but maybe the coach doesn't and surely Darley gets a game soon?

If I was supposed to choose..... Adams for scoring..... Kennedy for JS.... But I'd be willing to take the punt on Adams JS for the 20+ average I reckon he will achieve over Kennedy just for actually playing on the ball.

Nice work as usual CW.  I have a sneaky suspicion that the ongoing scoring potential is being ignored in a lot of the decisions on rookie keepers. Scoreing and keeping seems secondary to cash grabs regardless that it seems this may be about bench warming. Trades are not being valued as they should  :o :o IMO

Your 100% correct, I have not really wasted trades on early (pre-max out) rookie trades but I have wated them elsewhere.

If you are clever, you will have at least ONE rookie on each line to KEEP, no matter how much money he makes you if you have 2 premium midfielders rested in round 20, you are going to want a GUN ROOK for cover, not whatever rubish debuts in round 15 that you downgrade to for a cash grab.....

Magner is a great one to KEEP because of his round 12 bye. he can only get better and even tagging he gets enough of it, but if that's what he is going to to do and throw up 60's, well that just won't do if he is playing for you to cover a premo.

I'm looking at this point at the following (already in my team) to KEEP.

DEF: Clarke, maybe Buggy and save some doe on one less upgrade down back

MID: Adams/Greene/Coniglio - one only of those three, probably the best + JS come bye time. Pendles + Swan means Magner is no good to me.

RUCK: Duhhhh GILES.

FWD: Smith NOW - But like to think this spot could go to Zorko...

If you have another premium and Giles I would seriously consider it, at least for ONE or TWO rounds to get full injury update, Giles scores as well most games anyway and I can't see the carnage slowing down any time soon, trades could become very short even before we all BURN 6 going through the byes minimising donuts.

Great write up CW, very much appreciated, have another cheer.

Interesting to note the scoring diff between them. Hopefully Kennedys lock down role will only be on teams with 2 fleet footed small fwds like Betts and Garllet. I dont want to waste another trade on just bench cover for the season but am very tempted by adams. As you said his JS should be good and he should score better, and it does mean an extra 75 large in the kitty with a possibility of a fatter cow if needed down the track.

Decision time, Thanks mate keep up the good work ;)

Heaps of talk about Kennedy going, playing as a sacrificial back... But GWS are no doubt experimenting and trying players in different roles....
He has played really well each game and is surely in their best 18, my question is this...

He played as a on ballet during his junior footy so will he get tried on-ball soon???
I think that he will

Colliwobblers

you might be right mjbcattery, only thing stopping him are proably the players that are ONLY onballers ? not even sure if there is such a thing

Gibbs, Carrots, plenty more are pretty pure midfielders that play often in defense, kennedy could be one of these.

Thunderstruck

Thanks for keeping this updated Colliwobblers and a big cheer for you!

Yeah, maybe tossing up whether there is more benefit in replacing a premium to play or get the two bubble boys in and bench the premiums they need to replace until next round.
