So how important are captains, eh? 158 for Ottawa, 57 (injury affected) for Colorado. 100% the difference in this clash, as Colorado were slightly better around the ground but got smashed where it counts most. The good news for Ottawa - Treloar is a beast. The good news for Colorado - I think it's fair to say they were a bit unlucky in taking this L.

Anaheim Mighty Ducks 18.8.116 defeated Houston Bombers 15.10.100

Anaheim put out a pretty impressive display given only the two centurions in a very balanced team effort, with a ton of 80s and 90s save for a couple of guys like Mundy and Brown, while Houston slump to another loss and need to find answers fast as they look towards their finals placing. Houston had more tons, but were cursed by scores like Ziebell (zilch and off to the gulag), Byrnes on debut (23), Pittonet (32), and having their co-captains not do quite as outstanding like a few other clubs can put out.

New Brooklyn Hawks 20.10.130 lost to Quito Quetzals 21.10.136
(Real: 1943 vs 2043)

A 162 as captain against a 144 and 143 co-captain combo is almost unheard of, and it resulted in a game for the ages with NBH unluckily going down to a superior around-the-ground, and with a 182 for good measure, Quito who look to press their claim for the minor premiership in a very impressive score despite NOT having home ground advantage. But that's not to take anything away from the Hawks, who were very good as well despite Cripps scoring below expectations.

Chicago Sharks 20.12.132 defeated Las Vegas Sinners 18.12.120

My Vegas win streak comes to an end at a very handy Chicago performance, which they'll look to replicate as they charge towards a high placement on the ladder. English and Petracca were huge but the team also had three 30s by pretty good players, while Chicago were much more consistent around the ground, lead by two scores in the 140s and Oliver's 121 as captain.

Boston Terriers 15.10.100 lost to Wisconsin Cockerels 21.12.138

And here I was thinking this could be the match of the round...Max Gawn almost outscored Boston by himself! Not to mention De Goey went huge too, and their wealth of fellow centurions more than made up for a 9 and a 34 in their XVIII. As for Boston...it started as bad as you can get with Selwood injured very early Thursday night, and they're always in trouble when Neale and Goldy fail to fire...and Selwood's injured 10 was only just their worst score, as Brodie Smith clangered his way to 13. But on the bright side, if you're going to have a well below average score, you'd prefer it be against a performance you stood a very low chance of beating anyway.

San Francisco Grizzlies 17.8.110 lost to Carolina Panthers 18.7.115
(Real: 1648 vs 1722)

This was much closer than I anticipated, with it going right down to the last game where Hill flunked (as usual) and Kent fired to give the match it's expected result. Grundy did his job with another big captain score (which should be outlawed btw), while for SF Coniglio and Adams were the right choices as CC (eat your hearts out NBH and Quito), but those 40s by Redman, Hill, Martin and Ryan (and lower by Pittard) were a big downer.
