Clarke's pain killing meds have gone to his head! Everyone knows how good humid, overcast conditions suits a fast bowler, with the new dry ball btw!

I mean seriously Clarky? Day three tomorrow buddy, are we really waiting to bang 600? Yeah the pain meds have gone to his head

Bill Manspeaker

he'll have his reasons for not declaring. umps might have told him they'll call stumps if he declares

as I write this they start walking off

nrich102

Well it's stumps now  :( Think they could have played on.

jobe#4

yeah would have loved 30 odd minutes at India with the ball swinging!

Clarke must know something we don't? or he wanted Smith to get a double perhaps!

agreed they were getting smashed anyway, why bowl pace bowlers

PowerBug

Why would you have declared before stumps, makes no sense to me? Smith and Johnson are going to score just as quickly if not quicker than the top order would in the 2nd innings.

They go out, bat for 30 minutes tomorrow, have a tonk, if it pays off it pays off, they get 550+ and then probably won't need to bat again, then can attempt to bowl India out in 3 days. When you think about it, if each was to bat for equal time, it would equal 2.5 days each, so by giving them 3 full days + extra due to playing on for longer, then they have over half the game to bowl them out twice. It's not meant to rain anymore.

I totally understand why they've kept on batting, and I expect them to continue for a bit tomorrow morning, to put an India win out of the equation.

Even w/o the rain probably still would've been a draw
At the rate Australia were batting, I agree.

Mailman the 2nd

Yes declaring would've been the wrong decision.  They'll start early each day to make up the lost overs.

Certainly won't be a draw unless there's a ton more rain

Surely you can't say that until you've seen the Aussies bat? We were going at a flying rate, particularly with Warner in there.

What. Australia were batting quickly for a test match... 4.30 an over = 387 in a day. Not sure about you, but that is a lot of runs in one day, and advances the match.

Today's 30 overs went for 163 runs, that's pretty quick!

glad they didn't declare...wanna see Smith score a double!

India will try and play for a draw and the results will be something like Amazing Adelaide

Okay, I worded that badly.

I meant in the sense that they were scoring with ease and compiling a big score.

Assuming India do the same (by same, I mean bat for two days to get close-ish to whatever Australia sets), then I can't see the game being won by either side.

anyone done the KFC trivia at cricket australia site??

I just got to 213 before getting one wrong  :(
