Sydney Swans forward Mitch Morton today informed the club and his teammates that this would be his last season of AFL football.

Read what Mitch had to say here - http://bit.ly/16nNZI2

A great news story from the club, showed huge improvement with the Swans, especially off the field, and he was rewarded with one (possibly two!) premiership medallion.

 :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

I've always been a fan of Mitch Morton, especially because he once played for my mob.

Sad news, but well done to him.  8)

While he certainly did some promising things, it is the right time to retire.

He got the moment that many dream of and can't achieve you have to be happy with that

So it sounds like that he has a job lined up in Sydney as he will be buying a Swans membership next year.

Had a great finals series last year and stood up when counted

I think coming to the swans has changed him for the better, IMO he has seen the writing on the wall & there wasn't going to be many opportunities for him. He goes out as a premiership player. Well done Mitch :)

Do you think the development of your fwds and the addition of Tippett had a little to do with his decision

i kmow hid time at the swans was fast becoming limited, but at 26 you would think he could have made a go somewhere else?

Ricochet

Yeh thats what i thought. How many clubs has he been at now? 3?

He's had a very strange career Mitch Morton!

What the heck.
That's an unexpected blow for the Revs!

Always liked Mitch, sad to see him go.

Mitch speaking his mind on trade radio, telling Cam Luke and Browny about why he retired.

Has moved back to Perth to play WAFL (club yet to be determined) and work (something to do with finance).

He wanted to play midfield, regardless of the level, but none of the AFL clubs he was at gave him the chance, so that why he pulled the stumps on his AFL career.

He's more than happy to play WAFL and work in finance. #respect
