So are we making our own team threads here and posting in the main forum or waiting for a sub-forum to be created?

I'm waiting for the child boards before transferring over our stuff

HP will make the team boards (child boards) he's just a bit busy with work and stuff

All should be sorted now :). Made the boards earlier just before I went out as been busy today cause other stuff and dramas.

Both FF and Grannyboy are mods in here so easier to move things, sticky things, delete things, etc if needed :).

Cheers HP, I see my status has changed. I'm in the process of cutting and pasting a few threads atm. Can we make child boards under various topics or do we just make a new thread on the op instead? I'm not entirely sure how we're moving everything and whether we will keep the same format for our boards and threads, I'll have to talk to FF.
Thanks again for your time and doin it so quickly, much appreciated ;D

We should probably decide on how many rounds we're going to play and how we are going to fixture them next year. With 12 teams it makes sense to play each other twice but this will lead to playing at lest 2 games during the byes which could see teams unable to field a full squad. Playing 20 games will mean we can start from round 1 and we only miss 2 return fixtures, also playing an even amount of rounds means everyone gets 10 home and 10 away games...if I can get the fixture right.

20 rounds sounds good, good luck with the fixture.

Brains, I forgot about finals again der. So it will have to be 16 rounds with 5 return fixtures plus 4 rounds of finals. That's still 8 home and 8 away matches, so it works out evenly still.

What were we doing with the left over players from:
A) the Recycled Draft and,
B) the remaining players from last season.

I can't remember if this was discussed on freeforums but we need to figure out who is going where and where exactly the retirees compo will be in regards to the player pools left.

We don't want coaches with lots of retirees this season getting a huge advantage over retirees from any other season by adding both A) and B) to the National draft and then having compo picks. We could as a result have compo for retirees after the Rookie draft (what we did last year) so everyone has a chance to draft someone from the remaining pool. This will thin the pool of players for the Midseason Draft but give us all the best chance to pick up decent players in both drafts considering how strong the pool of players will be.
We could also just add last years left over players to the National draft, then remaining Recycled players go straight to the Midseason Draft so we only have National Draft players in the National Draft and Rookie players in the Rookie Draft. And compo picks to follow the Rookie Draft (exactly what we did last year).
What do coaches think?

I see the leftovers from last season are already in the National Draft thread, I assume if they are not picked they, along with all the other leftovers from this years National Draft, go into the Rookie Draft 2015 strengthening the pool?
Title: Re: Americas XVIII General Discussion

I thought the leftover players from the Nat draft and recycled draft were going into the rookie draft and the Nat draft was staying Nat picks only

So we have discussed this, or you've talked to FF about it? I can't remember exactly what was happening, he's gone offline now. No hurry we've got til 27th November to figure it out/remember it. ??? :P

I'm not in this comp but every other comp has only newly drafted NAT players in the NAT draft as it makes sense
Title: Re: Americas XVIII General Discussion
Post by: Grannyboy on October 06, 2014, 10:50:47 PM
It does make sense but because we have the 1 off Recycled Draft and 2 lots of left over players this year it will make a very strong Rookie Draft. Anyone who has a lot of retirees will then be getting extra picks in this draft and will be picking from a much better pool than any other year.

Yeah but this is pretty much a once off year anyway with the recycled draft invovled.
There will always be a hidden gem or 2 leftover in the player pool that haven`t yet hit their straps
We have some good ones leftover in the Euros rook draft which include Levi Greenwood and Jaensch.

BXV have decent ones left over as will AXVIII SC

It's not that much of an advantage if teams need extra picks you give them to the teams at the end of the rookie draft

Seems to be the general consensus of those who are on, I'll talk to FF and write something into the draft topics so we're all clear and I can remember what's going on later. :D

I have an announcement to make - the Asuncion Armadillos are delighted to welcome FS as an assistant coach!

I'm looking forward to have him on board. He can work on trade deals so if you are interested in some of our players hit either of us up.

What would happen if I wanted to PASS a Nat pick? If I passed say Nat 40, would I just get a pick at the end of the two rounds of the rookie draft?

No ..reason being everyone would do it because there are much better players available in the recycle draft leftovers

Rookie is normally crap, this year it will have all the leftover players from the recycle draft, so it will be good

I was thinking of a comp for the break in rounds 8,9,10 and thought maybe we could split into 2 teams, east and west/north south or something. Every coach nominates 4 players from their team each week to make up the 24 (18 starters, 4 bench, 2 emerg) and we play off against each other in a 3 round all star comp? What do you think?

I'm going to be 3 players short after the drafts if none of my delisted players get picked up again. How do we decide the order of picks to fill our lists to 54? (after the compo picks) Do we just go in reverse ladder order from last year again, each team picks once and repeat til all our lists are up to 54?

This way works although haven't we previously done it in the order the players were taken in the initial draft? Probably a bit hard to work out though.

Yeah I sort of agree, I know I will be unlikely to do much until the DPP's start coming out.

Whats the reason for closing? Couldnt you just open another trade period? anyone who wants to trade before the dpp can, others can wait?

That was the idea .... We closed trade period 1 as there were lots of rejected trades and messages regarding them ..plus we needed a break. We want to have a trade period 2 (not sure of length) and then have another ..trade period 3 when the positions come out. Basically we don't want to be ruling on trades right through until the season starts again as it gives us no break.

We wanted a short trade period for people to make adjustments to their squads after the Nat and Rookie drafts had finished.

But yeah im not fussed we could have no trade period right up until the positions come out ?

As per the rules (Americas dreamteam) as was discussed and voted on we are waiting until after the Rookie draft, i don't mind the idea but don't really want to muck around doing it now with the draft tomorrow. Compo picks will be awarded to coaches short of a 54 player list after compo picks for retirements.

After the draft (Rookie) post your delistings in the appropriate thread and i will adjust the lists.

Not sure on Delistings compo picks(teams short of 54 players)yet as a lot of players could be re-drafted in the rookie draft. What players do get delisted will still be able to be re-drafted(Americas) as we have a mid-season draft.

Out of curiosity (can't be bothered looking through all the teams), who feels they have benefited or been shafted by the updated positions?

For me I think got very lucky with a lot of position changes that benefits my team.
Goddard dpp
Lumumba dpp
Bennell dpp
Hodge keeps dpp

The changes just balanced out my team all over the field, so I'm hoping with a bit more luck with injuries the side can really challenge for the premiership :P

Mayes def/mid
Sexton mid/fwd
Adams mid/fwd
Higgins stays def/fwd
Durdin and Vickers Willis 2 draft picks with Dual position
Ahern and McKenna Fwd
Christensen mid/fwd
Toumpas mid/fwd

Lost McVeigh which hurts a bit and Martin but that doesn't bother me

I think we mostly benefitted from the changes, some we had already thought would happen.Looking at the team it's still pretty well balanced have a crap load of mids but we have a few that are older so it seems to be still nicely balanced

Brodie Martin from Def to Mid/Fwd didn't like this much as Martin was going to be a starter down back,it's why we grabbed him in the draft
Brandon Jack from Mid to Fwd knew this was probably happening and fine with it
Burgoyne retains DPP :D was not sure of he would retain DPP or not
Smitch now Mid only knew this was coming
Hartman now Mid/Fwd actually thought and had read he might get fwd/def but this is fine
Fitzpatrick loses Ruck status to Fwd only thought he might retain DPP but meh
Gordon from Mid to Fwd knew this would probably happen and had planned for it
Carlisle gains Fwd/Def another we thought would happe
Winderlich gains Fwd/Def again we thought this would happen
Colledge from Fwd to Mid I knew this was coming he played in mids in the WAFL all year
M.Grigg gains Mid/Fwd nice surprise here
H.Goddard Fwd/Def knew this was a possibility
D.Buckley mid to def Knew this was likely as well and it's why we drafted him.

I seem to have gained some defenders and kept/lost dpp where i thought i wouldn't.

Zac Williams - from MID to DEF
Jamie Macmilllan - from MID to DEF
Will Hoskin-Elliott - from MID to FWD
Devon Smith - lost DPP - from MID/FWD to FWD
Craig Bird - kept DPP - MID/FWD
Marcus Bontempelli - gained DPP - from MID to MID/FWD
Steven Motlop - gained DPP - from FWD to MID/FWD
Jake Melksham - gained DPP - from MID to MID/FWD
Angus Monfries - lost DPP - from MID/FWD to FWD
Lachie Henderson - lost DPP - from FWD/DEF to FWD
Sam Day - lost DPP - from FWD/DEF to FWD
Lewis Taylor - lost DPP - from MID/FWD to FWD
Eli Templeton - from MID to FWD
Will Langford - from DEF to MID

Mayes def/mid
Sexton mid/fwd
Adams mid/fwd
Higgins stays def/fwd
Durdin and Vickers Willis 2 draft picks with Dual position
Ahern and McKenna Fwd
Christensen mid/fwd
Toumpas mid/fwd

Lost McVeigh which hurts a bit and Martin but that doesn't bother me

These are changes I reckon can really benefit you. McVeigh and Martin could arguably be expected, sort of like for my SC side I expected Danger and Parker to be Mid only.

Quote from: LF on December 23, 2014, 12:34:33 PM

I reckon these guys can have a good impact, Buckley is probably depth but I believe he can improve. The other changes were more of your depth players imo and probably doesn't change much of your already strong side.

Yeah im quite happy with my changes Pops, was mainly worried about Devon Smith i would have been devastated if he became pure mid only, being a pure forward doesn't bother me at all as obviously you would play him in the forward line anyway which was why i drafted him. Might have been handy if i had a mid out and replaced them with him as i have plenty of forward cover but yeah i cant complain.

Regarding your team Pops you would be happy that Hodge, Bennell and Lumumba retained DPP and very happy with Goddard gaining DPP it gives you some nice book ends in your forward and back lines.

I giggled like a little school girl when Goddard got dpp status. I got him pretty cheap in the Recycled draft at the start of the 3rd round, obviously if people knew he was a forward he probably should've been snapped up a lot earlier.

Next season there will be a cap on trading we will have a maximum of 20 player movements per team over 2 trade periods. Player movements include trading draft picks. This is a little more than other comps as we have bigger squads and we may need extra movements when it comes to teams re-building etc.

The trade periods will be, Trade period 1 starting a month before the Nat and rookie drafts , Trade period 2 would be after the positional changes are announced.

If you use too many in trade period one it will be badluck if your team is effected by positional changes. Teams must use their movements wisely.

A little more than a couple of other comps but easy enough to manage and enough to help with a rebuild

I'm happy with it, I haven't traded much this season compared to last so doesn't affect me. The only way you gain something in trades is by picking up a speculative youngster, most trades are pretty even and don't gain you anything.

Not a fan of the Sub rule but if coaches want it ? Does it benefit the teams with stronger depth. What happens if you struggle to field decent interchange/sub then your going to be further behind the rest because you wont be replacing your lowest score with a good score and the strong teams will. Haven't spoken to GB about it yet. Do you still get your lowest score if your sub score is lower ?

How did this rule go in the other xv comps ? did it seem fair or did the strong teams get stronger ?

Im open to the idea I just don't want it to effect teams.
Title: Re: General Discussion
Post by: LF on January 31, 2015, 11:59:08 AM
It actually helps the lower teams get a better score by allowing them to replace a sub standard score with a decent score.
The sub scores mainly end up replacing a player that is subbed out or is starting sub and defenders seem to be a position that gets subbed a lot due to their sometimes erratic scoring.

It worked fine in BXV last season and Ringo is looking to maybe extend the rule.

Yes you still get your lowest score if your sub scores lower it happened a few times in BXV last season.

Title: Re: General Discussion
Post by: Football Factory on January 31, 2015, 12:03:01 PM
Okay I was just thinking if you don't really have an interchange then you wouldn't be able to replace your lowest score with a better score. If coaches want it im happy to go with it. See what people say I can open a thread at some stage with poll.
Title: Re: General Discussion
Post by: LF on January 31, 2015, 12:14:37 PM
so here is a couple examples from my BXV team thread

Backs: Andrew Walker(110)Harry Taylor(94),Tom Langdon(83),Lynden Dunn(66)
Mids: Scott Pendlebury(128x2),Chris Masten(77),Dan Hannebery(113),Matt Rosa(94)
Ruck: Aaron Sandilands(90)
Forwards: Robbie Gray(117),Sam Day(100),Jesse White(75),James Podsiadly(135)
Utilities: Jackson Macrae(145),Heath Grundy(74)
Emergencies: Luke Russell(48)(B),Jamie Bennell(61)(M)(Sub),Dawson Simpson(58)(R),Cameron Hitchcock(DNP)(F)

So in this case sub wasn't used as all on field players scored better

Backs: Heath Grundy(99),Harry Taylor(46),Andrew Walker(113),Lynden Dunn(129)
Mids: Scott Pendlebury(177x2),Dan Hannebery(64),Matt Rosa(116)Chris Masten(85)
Ruck: Aaron Sandilands(82)
Forwards: Robbie Gray(159),Sam Day(38),James Podsiadly(91),Jesse White(39)
Utilites: Jackson Macrae(151),Brad Sewell(145)
Emergencies: Aaron Young(65)(M),Tom Langdon(100)(B)Sub,Dawson Simpson(R),Andy Otten(54)(F)

So in this case Day was my lowest scorer and Langdon was my nominated sub so his score replaces Day's which was good since I had a bunch of crappy scores this week haha
Title: Re: General Discussion

Title: Re: General Discussion
Post by: picker_man on January 31, 2015, 03:05:36 PM
Didn't like this rule before but now looking into it after LF's posts I can see the sub rule being used a whole lot more by the less competitive teams through out the yr, so would be a bigger benefit to them I reckon so id vote to bring it in
Title: Re: General Discussion
Post by: popedelio on February 02, 2015, 01:56:50 AM
IMO you should only be allowed to sub in a player for a player that was sub affected, rather then a player that had poor performance. We can have a cut of point like a player with less then 30% TOG can be subbed.

The only way I'd like to see a sub rule used is if one of your starting player gets a vest, red or green, you can then sub them off for a player on the bench. I hate vests!

I like the vest rule it brings something different to the game of AFL, doesn't bother me too much in AF, SC, RDT and doesn't bother me at all in this comp. we pick a best 18 with 4 bench players if we add the vest rule we might aswell have a rolling lockout to avoid the green vest

Agree with that pick players who aren't likely to be sub, eg Rocky :p
Title: Re: General Discussion
Post by: LF on February 02, 2015, 05:17:34 PM
So we don't even get to vote at all because 2 coaches out of 12 coaches don't like the idea.
If you notice all the other comps either already have a sub rule or are bringing one in this year.

And RG actually go look around and see how the rule works in the other comps.
It's easy to say don't pick a player who is likely to be the sub but any player can be the sub or subbed off anytime.
Title: Re: General Discussion
Post by: R.Griffen on February 02, 2015, 05:27:55 PM
I will admit that anyone can get subbed off but a guy like Pendlebury won't start as sub on ANZAC day. It's just bad luck that your player gets the vest

I might draw up a fixture for the mid season break Rounds 11-13 and come up with an All-Star cup to play off for every year. It seems we now have 2 obvious choices U.S.A. vs The All-Stars with 6 of us (Springfield, Arizona, Washington, Roswell, Dallas, L.A.) in mainland U.S.A. and the other 6 (Hawaii, Calgary, Asuncion, El Paso*furthest south*, Vancouver, Nicaragua) off shore, or we could have those groups or North (Vancouver, Calgary, Washington, Springfield, Arizona, L.A.) vs South (Hawaii, Roswell, Nicaragua, Asuncion, El Paso, Dallas).
I think we should do one of those rather than ladder positions so we can keep the same teams from year to year and play off for a yet to be named cup every time.

We all select which coach and assistant will manage the team for that week (no coach can coach more than one week so everyone gets a turn). We all post 5 players from any position from our own teams each week. The nominated coach and assistant for that week then chooses how to assemble their team from their list of 30 and submits it on the appropriate page in the usual format. You can discuss with your selections with your team before posting to ensure you can make a team in the correct format.
We will score in the usual system over the three rounds and the winning team will be decided by the aggregate score, so you can win 2 out of 3 rounds and still lose the cup!

Does that sound ok?
What teams should we go with and what should the cup be called?
Title: Re: General Discussion
Post by: LF on February 23, 2015, 11:58:17 PM
I like it
But I think the coach for the week should be able to pick which ever players they want from the teams but limit it to a certain amount from each team maybe 6-8.
It will make it easier to assemble a team then because someone could just nominate 5 mids from their team and the next coach could do the same so we could end up with not enough players from each position to make the team if you get my meaning.

Title: Re: General Discussion

Yeah I get what you mean but I think it will even it out a bit more and make it more interesting if we submit only 5 per team especially with 6 AFL teams out each week. The coaches can all discuss which players to post beforehand so you don't end up with 5 rucks or 20 mids.
And yeah doing an Eliminator again not quite sure what format yet with 12 teams in.

Just so everyone knows Bud hasn't been able to access the internet for a while as he has been moving from house to house a bit lately. Im not sure if he will be able to post his team for round 1 ? but should be good to go for round 2.

He needs to have a team posted for round 1 so I will need someone neutral (regular member of fanfooty) to select a team for him if people do not have objections ?

Just so everyone knows Bud hasn't been able to access the internet for a while as he has been moving from house to house a bit lately. Im not sure if he will be able to post his team for round 1 ? but should be good to go for round 2.

He needs to have a team posted for round 1 so I will need someone neutral (regular member of fanfooty) to select a team for him if people do not have objections ?

No worries, thanks LF

Ill wait until tomorrow before I ask so people can speak if they're not happy about it. Also gives Bud some more time to post it himself if he does get internet access.

I posted the format for the Eliminator in the team lodgement board. It's a different format to last year as we only have 12 teams now. You don't need to enter a team for it your scores will be taken from the home and away rounds.

Okay the start of the season has been a shambles with 2 coaches posting late and 1 not posting his team at all. I did ask everybody to submit a full team prior to partial lockout to stop this from happening but people don't seem to read the rules on the OP or seem to care.

These are some things I want to introduce to stop this from happening again.

GAME POINTS PENALTY
1st - Warning
2nd offence - VC Score doesn't count
3rd offence - Captain score doesn't count
4th offence - Captain score doesn't count - Sacking - Team taken into admin - new coach

Games points penalties and warnings will be issued to teams that also post their team late.

If there is a good reason you cant post your team for the week let us know and we will post your previous weeks team (or team provided to us) for the week with no penalties (this must be done prior to the weekend games)

This will be introduced from round 2 onwards regardless of how the penalties worked in the first round ..eg: lateness of team resulted in players from certain teams scores not counting.

Prior to the 2016 season every coach will have to submit a default team.

Im pretty disappointed that certain coaches could not even submit a team properly for the first game of the season.

* have made some changes to this since first posting

A question to do with VC scores
What happens if it ends up as for example 98.5 does it round up?

Hello coaches, Grannyboy and myself are still trying to work out a fair way to resolve the failure of Ele to post his team in round 1.

What are your thoughts about giving him the lowest score 1408 (memphs score) that way the percentages do not blow out.
Title: Re: General Discussion

So why couldn't you name a team for him and give him a 1st warning? Doesn't ele have some sort of draft 2015 team in his thread?

Because of the partial lockout, and the fact that Griff and Memph posted their teams ..but late and as a result did not receive points for the players that had already started playing .. Memph posted after quarter time and Griff posted at half time in the games in question.

Ele only posted his Richmond and Carlton players.

Below was a team he made back in December, which would have been close to what he named in round 1...
Quote from: elephants on October 01, 2014, 06:09:30 PM
First Team
B: Bachar Houli (d), Paul Duffield (d), Harry Taylor (d), Garrick Ibbotson (d)
M: Scott Pendlebury (m), Trent Cotchin (m), Dyson Heppell (m), Marc Murphy (m), Kieran Jack (m), Luke Parker (m)
U: David Armitage (m), Josh Thomas (f/m), Andrejs Everitt (d/m)
R: Shane Mumford (r)
F: Tom Mitchell (f/m), Brett Deledio (f/m), Josh Kennedy (f), Tom Lynch (f)

So updating his team with what he had named to what he drafted earlier

Captain:
Vice Captain: Trent Cotchin
DVC: Bachar Houli

Back: Bachar Houli, Duffield, Taylor, Ibbotson
Mid: Trent Cotchin, Marc Murphy, Pendlebury, Heppell, Jack, Parker
Ruck: Mumford
Fwd: Brett Deledio, Mitchell, Kennedy, Lynch
Utilities: Armitage, J. Thomas, .....(everitt was named here)
Int: Andrejs Everitt (F), Andrew Carrazzo (M)
Emg:

So above will be his team for the 1st round

And if that team wins is that fair considering he didn't post a team after I sent multiple messages while he was online posting and ignored them.

So what do we do for Griff and Memphs teams ? do we give them some players to fill the spots that they didn't get ?

Title: Re: General Discussion

So his scoring will be as follows:

Captain:
Vice Captain: Trent Cotchin
DVC: Bachar Houli

Back: Bachar Houli (78*1.5=117), Paul Duffield (68), Harry Taylor (70), Garrick Ibbotson (57)
Mid: Trent Cotchin (54*2=108), Marc Murphy (67), Scott Pendlebury (104), Dyson Heppell (111), Kieran Jack (104), Parker (111)
Ruck: Shane Mumford (66)
Fwd: Brett Deledio (53), Tom Mitchell (DNP), Josh Kennedy (67), Tom Lynch (DNP)
Utilities: David Armitage (89), Andrejs Everitt (80), Andrew Carrazzo (54)

Since no Captain was named, Cotchin becomes Captain and Houli becomes VC
Everitt replaces Thomas, Carazzo replaces open position in 3rd utility spot

score of 1326

Still lower then Memphs, but at least it was close to a side he would have named and would still lose

Quote from: FOOTBALL FACTORY on April 09, 2015, 06:42:42 PM

As I answered above he would still lose, if Memph and Griff had a draft team and a certain player were listed then sure they should get them.

But if they don't name again, then they get there 2nd offence and the team that was named in round 1 will be used. So for ele's case the team above will be used, and he would lose his VC score

It is only week one and most teams did post some form of draft team, so can't just name only 4 players on field as in ele's case

Hey lads,

I really don't mind what happens to the team last week. I deserve the loss and regardless it seems as though I'll get it.

Easter is a very major thing for my family, Friday involved one side, Sunday the other side, Saturday one side of the girlfriends and Monday the girlfriends other side. I literally hardly had a spare minute and when I did I was intoxicated and on my phone with zero chance of posting up a team.

I'll be endeavouring to post my side for the rest of the season.

Cheers, Ele.

I've updated the ladder giving ele the lowest points for which leaves him 2nd bottom 1.3% above Calgary so no-one get a huge advantage or disadvantage from his score.
As Asuncion posted a low but competitive score and was 1 player short which cost them a victory (and no captains named) we left their scores as is.
I hope everyone is happy with this as it seemed the fairest solution for the whole competition. Remember to post your teams this week!

When one places a DPP player (such as Matt de Boer, who has FWD/MID DPP status) as an emergency, can said player replacescores on either line? Or do I have to nominate one position for him to replace?

Thanks in advance.

They have to be nominated ..(M),(F),(R),(B) but if you have a DPP player in your utilities and you have a player in your team not play and cant replace him with one of your interchange then we replace that player with the DPP player aslong as he has the correct position, we then replace the utility with first named interchange if not used yet. If they were used then the second named interchange will replace the missing utility and so on.

Just looking at my list and Asuncions/Bolivias list and where we are on the ladder, I reckon I should probably get 2nd pick in midseason draft, in ladder order. If Memph was the coach being sanctioned and he was still coach it might make sense but I reckon I'm in a much better position for the future than Asuncion and they need the pick #1 more than I do. Even if Memph got the 2 wins earlier I'd still be ahead of him now.
Any opinions either way?

Asuncion needs the pick imo.

Hey is there a mid-season trade period as well or only a draft (only asking as I'm back as an assistant at Dallas).

Nicaragua will be stoked. Scored the most points in the league yet they're still getting a better pick than three other teams! #envious

There wont be a trade period. We don't want teams changing half way through a season.

For a bit of friendly banter, how does everyone think their recycled players have gone so far this season? I don't want to be too arrogant but I just feel like I cleaned up in that draft, especially coming in with the last pick.

Recycled Draft
1. Harley Bennell (Pick 12) - so much potential, yet still hasn't reached it.
2. Stephen Coniglio (Pick 24) - solid bull who is in the 22 for a strong Giants midfield, has performed.
3. Brendan Goddard (Pick 25) - gun, lucky to be a forward this season
4. Elliot Yeo (Pick 48) - gun (eagles bias  ;D), won't be a defender next season but can't complain  :)
5. Jesse Hogan (Pick 49) - potential rising star winner, maybe not suited for DT, but can possibly kick bags to have huge scores
6. Patrick Cripps (Pick 72) - How did he end up being the last pick? Front runner for rising star, looks to be the leading Carlton midfielder in the future, contested beast.

A lot of youth, and arguably my worst pick would be my first selection in Bennell. I feel like the only player I would've selected ahead of my bunch would be Jack Steven who was a steal at pick 27. But my last 3 selections have been steals, and all are still very young. Pity the rest of my team hasn't performed this year hahaha  ::)

How do you reckon you have gone in your recycled draft last year? Any selections you hoped you had changed in hindsight? Predictions on how they will perform on the rest of there career?
Title: Re: General Discussion
Post by: LF on June 25, 2015, 12:20:51 PM
1.Ollie Wines (Pick 10)
2.Nathan Jones(Pick 22)
3.Jack Steven(Pick 27)
4. Brodie Martin(Pick 46)
5. Ben McEvoy(Pick 51)
6. Jarryn Geary(Pick 70)

All our mid picks doing what we hoped they'd do,did not think however that Steven would turn out to be pretty much our perma C tho had Jones pegged as our VC/C behind Ablett.
Geary has been solid for us as well as decent defence depth
Martin has been a bit stiff not to play more games but again was just intended depth and did well in the games he did play
And McEvoy was just picked as extra ruck depth and was never intended to be used unless really needed.
Considering we had late draft picks we scored extremely good mids to bolster us nicely this year.

Basically we grabbed what we felt we needed, young mids to come in for the old brigade, some extra ruck depth with Coxy retiring, extra defence depth.
Then we used the Nat and rook drafts to top up with youth in all positions having so many older players that will retire in the next couple of years.

2014 National Draft
Pick 12: Hugh Goddard
Pick 13: Jarrod Garlett
Pick 19: Caleb Daniel

2014 Rookie Draft
Pick 11: Alec Waterman
Pick 12: Dylan Buckley

Retiree Compo Picks
For Dean Cox Pick 26 : Aaron Vandenberg
For Daniel Jackson Pick 30: Dean Gore

Then add in another decent looking defender in Byrne and what could be a very nice pickup for our forward line in the future in Davis from mid season draft.

Recycled Draft

#11 - Toby Greene - down on his 2014 season average of 102 (including a 7 game stretch to end the season where he went @ 125ppg), he has picked up forward status in AF and is a reasonable chance to get this again across all forms of fantasy in 2016.  Can't be too shattered with this pick, should turn out highly beneficial in the long term as he's shown he can score well while playing as a forward!

#23 - Tom Mitchell - As you all know I'm an enormous believer in this guy. Took a little while to crack into the team but since he has he's gone on to average 111, dropping under the ton once for a score of 95. At just 22 years of age, fair to say this bloke is one of the more valuable players in the league! Odds are he will lose forward status but when you're producing an average like he is at his level of consistency thats somewhat irrelevant, a starter in any team be it midfield or forward line.

#26 - Jack Billings - When drafted he drew comparisons to Stevie J but in his first season I saw fantasy number production similar to Brent Stanton. The young fella loved a +6 pushing up onto a wing from half forward and despite an interrupted pre-season, the young lad has gone on with it averaging 84 as a forward. Almost wish I kept the young fella around but looking back I did trade him and Harley Bennell for Stevie Johnson and fantasy sluts David Armitage and Jordan Lewis, so I really can't complain :p

#47 - Josh Thomas - Probably the only pick in the draft I'm disappointed with. The kid had shown ball winning abilities and with midfield spots becoming vacant at the Pies I thought it was a premium time to jump on this young fwd/mid. He's now looking at 2 years out of the game with a doping ban. Highly disappointing.

#50 - Tom Lynch - Absolutely love this guy and was happy from the moment I picked him up in the draft. Coming into his prime at 25 years of age, he's pumping an average of 88 as a forward and is a slight chance to pick up def/fwd in the future. Very very happy.

#71 - Mitch Wallis - Bit of a freak this kid and with Libba going down he's really stood up. Without his injury affected game and his return game the bloke averages 107, an increase of 49 points per game on his 2013 average of 58. Very very happy with this pick up, even if Pat Cripps went one pick later!

Great discussion idea pop!

Funny thing that draft, if we had it now and Prestia had his 12-14 week injury (why haven't I made him LTI yet?) I'd be thinking pick #1 is Jack Steven and #2 is probably Ellis still. Would Prestia go 3rd? Steven went #27 but has made huge gains this season on the rest of the comp.
I might have to go through my others later and see how they look now compared to when I drafted them.

Prestia is still a gun GB, others may have done better so far because of his injury, but my foresight predicts he should be back to his gun ways once he returns back to health  :)

Recycled Draft: 2014
Pick 1: Dion Prestia, Midfield, Gold Coast. - Gun
Pick 13: Tom J Lynch, Forward, Gold Coast. - Potenial Gun, for a big man he is maturing early
Pick 36: Bradley Hill, Midfield, Hawthorn. - Starter and has potenial for 90-100 average in seasons to come
Pick 37: Rory Laird, Defender, Adelaide. - Back to his best and sustaining it for longer, thriving under Walsh with running/tagging role
Pick 60: Jason Johannisen, Defender, Western Bulldogs. - Holding his spot in young line up, is inconsistent but a lot of upside
Pick 61: Christian Salem, Midfielder, Melbourne. - Starting to show his potential, is possibly in Demons best 22, decent pre/early season form this year but again inconsistent, bargain pick this far down.

All started in almost every game before injury cut a couple down. Laird probably exceed my expectations the most so far, and if Salem can stay away from those bloody vests is not far behind.

I think if I could go back and do the draft again in hindsight, I could take Jack Steven at 13 and Patrick Cripps with one of my last 2 picks it would have almost been the perfect draft. The others I'm more than happy with, but having said that I think I did pretty well anyway for what my team needed and have quite a few positions covered with young guns now.

Post by: Football Factory on June 26, 2015, 08:22:14 PM

Pick 6 - Devon Smith (2014 average: 94 - 2015 average: 91) Forward

Needed a forward and couldn't resist, had some large scores in 2014.

Pick 18 - Will Hoskin-Elliott (2014 average: 68 - 2015 average: 49) Forward

Finished 2014 with some good form and nice scores. Struggled with an injury early on in 2015 and poor form, hasn't showed his true potential yet after being pick 4 in the 2011 NAB Draft, another forward.

Pick 31 - Brodie Grundy (2014 average: 60 - 2015 average: 91) Ruck

Very happy with this pick he has made the no1 ruck spot his own

Pick 42 - Ryan Griffen (2014 average: 86 - 2015 average: 75) Midfield

Going to a new club I thought Griffen could replicate earlier years and be a quick fix for my team, how wrong I was, massively inconsistent.

Pick 55 - Adam Kennedy (2014 average: 64 - 2015 average: 46) Back

After some strong games towards the end of last year he looked to be a good depth player for my backline. Hasn't played many games this year and hasn't shown much when he has.

Pick 66: Greg Broughton Back ( What a terrible pick ) MASSIVE SPUD

Overall a bad draft for me imo.

Yup doesn't help when I think of you picking Cripps, I looked at him so many times but my hand was forced when I needed forwards and backs. Ive drafted pretty well overall I think so it doesn't hurt too much but I do think what could have been if I hadn't picked the last 3 spuds. Griffen does make my team surprisingly but he isn't helping the scores  :(

Just letting you all know, Bolivia will be chucking up one of it's young gun midfielders or top draft pick (Most likely #1) in attempt to get a gun defender or a gun forward, as Zerrett and Billings could lose FWD status, and Bruce will turn into a FWD only.

As for rucks, if anyone is after a starting ruck or back up ruck, let me know. I've got a fair few haha (Nic Nat, Gawn, McKernan, Hickey, Lycett and 2m Pete. )

List of young mids willing to be traded;

1. Jack Redden
2. Adam Treloar
3. David Swallow
4. Dylan Shiel
5. Dom Sheed
6. Jaeger O'Meara

Vancouver also looking to make numerous trades over the off-season as the current list is not sustainable. Will be willing to part with a number of premiums and I'll keep the competition updated as the trading period progresses  :)

Are we having a default order for our captains, in case someone doesn't submit them properly? Or are we just using the previous weeks version like we did a couple of weeks ago with Ele?

Previous week imo.

During the week of some teams not naming C/VC/EVC properly I stated that I would bring in a (new rule?), I didn't really consult anyone about it but nobody argued at the time and this was the rule we used for the week in question. If there are no objections this rule will stay.

7.5 If a Coach fails to name their C/VC/EVC correctly they will receive their C/VC/EVC selections from the previous week. An example of this would be if a coach forgot to name one of the C/VC/EVC selections or named 2 Captains/2 Vice Captains etc ..any variation of not naming these selections properly will result in the default selections being used.

I agree, cant have teams having free wins. Its hard to project 12 months down the track though so maybe rivalry round should be set up after the trade periods and leading into the start of next season.

Yeah may as well, then it can be discussed between teams and then approved and finalised ready for next season.

I'm confused. Don't know if you are trying to keep bottom teams at the bottom or what??

-0 Priority for the 2 teams that got smashed nearly all season.

-Snake order for Nat Draft and Rookie draft.

Pick 1 and then 24 for bottom... When top of the ladder gets 12 and 13. That doesn't help at all..

At the moment if you finish last you get..

Nat Picks 1,24,25,48

Rookie Picks 1,24,25,48

and if you finish first you get ...

Nat Picks 12,13,36,37

Rookie Picks 12,13,36,37

I'm just a fan of how the AFL is ran. I only see snake as a viable option during an initial draft.

Consider this year's talent pool is one of the worst ones in recent times, pick 24 isn't going to be as good as it was this past year.

Giving whoever finishes last a potentially dud pick is likely to further hurt them (assuming last has an ordinary team and needs decent talent or a decent pick to trade for somebody decent).

A nat draft should never snake (the exception to this is at the formation of a comp like this) because you're really just feeding a top team high end talent while screwing over the bottom sides. Let whoever finishes last get 1 and 13.

Any coach against this must really have no concern for the betterment of the competition.

I think you will be lucky to get a good player at 13  :-\

Im happy to change it, im all about an even comp don't worry about that  (crappy trades will be rejected ;)  :-X )

Ill speak to GB about it.
Title: Re: General Discussion

Yeah I think it's better to not snake it and follow the AFL with this otherwise the lower teams will lose value if they want to trade their picks for players.

No idea about 24 and 25 at this stage. Won't be any many over 35 though haha. Been following this draft all year. Top 1-5 is even than 6-25 is evenish and then 26+ poo. haha

What about the FF Trophy? Cos it'd be Flowering Fantastic if my player won it!
The Pacific Atlantic MVP sounds all encompassing of our regions,
The Jordan Award - If you win 2 you can say you picked up a nice pair of Jordans 8),
The Magic Medal - hey presto, I can't pull a rabbit out of a hat but I can pull a medal out of my....next
World Champion In Your Face Cop That Trophy,
The Armstrong Award - He was 1st and you can't beat that Buzz :-\ :P,
The Pele/Maradona/Ronaldo/Messi Trophy, - 1 of them not all 4.
The Andes-Rocky MVP, - The most dominant features of both continents
The Holmes-Pike Medal - lol Go Johnny!
The Jim Stynes Medal - Cos he was the first international to win an VFL B&F.
Go Granny Yaay - Cos I've run out of ideas.

I am doing a Rising/Young Star for this year.
Just wondering how you guys would want to work it?
I kind of don't want to worry to much about age so thinking something like 23 and under but must have played 10 or less games maybe over 2 or 3yrs.
Only since there are players that have been injured or are classed as mature age draftees but they are techincally first year or 2nd year players.

Will be one nominee per round which I will post up once I have gone through team lodgements.

Thoughts and suggestions please :)

I am just going to make it easy for you, just give it to Patrick Cripps  ::)

For next season, coaches could let you know who was there best young player for the week, and from that list you can decide the nomination for the week.

So next year I think it might be ideal if we have the Grand Final in round 22 rather than last round because of this mass resting issue.
Title: Re: General Discussion
Post by: Football Factory on September 01, 2015, 04:32:17 PM
Reduces the season even more if we do that (we don't play bye rounds).. only 15 games ?

More is better imo  ;D

I can understand the want to change it but I think its just bad luck if players get rested/injured. Im happy to go with majority tho not bothered really.
Title: Re: General Discussion
Post by: LF on September 01, 2015, 04:43:56 PM
I just think that it makes a better Grand Final if the teams involved can field all their best players (unless they are injured of course) because imo what Fremantle are doing has now just opened up a can of worms and could get worse next year also looks like North are planning on doing some restings and we have some players now done this week and are being sent off surgeries
Title: Re: General Discussion

Im a bit of a traditionalist aswell, Fantasy Grandfinal week is round 23.

Don't think we have had a Grandfinal affected by it yet, would be a shame if we did have a year ruined by it tho. AFL Fantasy might think about doing this in the future ?

Im not sure to be honest, like I say im happy to go with majority.

BXV and a couple of other comps had GF's last week and I've been following Worlds and looks like one team there is going to be hit hard by these restings.
But yeah will be a point of discussion etc before next season.

It's really only Ross that is resting players, so its more just pure luck if your player misses out or plays, much like if they got injured or reported. Though I don't mind if the GF is in the 2nd last week of the AFL H&A.

No disrespect to the great Boomer Harvey, but I think that is fair enough. Tuck didn't have access to a vest when he played so Boomer should not either.

I have no doubts that Boomer will still manage though  :) He's persists through anything and even if he fell short next year, I think he would go for it in 2017 (maybe just to break the record)

If they really want to cut rotations they should just make a rule saying you have to stay on the ground after you kick a goal. 20 less rotations per team every game ;) well maybe 8 if Freo are playing ::) lol

Bolivia is pretty much done with Trade Week (Months). If this trade with LF goes through i'll be going through the draft with this;

N6. N9. N18. N25. R1 .R13.

Also strengthened both my defense and forwards to the sacrifice of my mids. But I plan on picking up a couple of DT Specialists in the midfield during the draft and with Rookie 1. With the team i'm holding now, I'd be disappointed if I didn't make the finals. Unless all my midfielders get injured again... Had so many of them injured this year once I took over...

Bolivia Best XVIII 2016

Defenders: Sam Docherty, Jack Grimes, Jarrod Harbrow, Paul Seedsman
Midfielders: Steele Sidebottom, Adam Treloar, Dylan Shiel, Jaeger O'Meara Dom Sheed, Jesse Lonergan,
Ruck: Max Gawn
Forwards: Shaun Higgins, Jamie Cripps, Jack Billings, Isaac Heeney
Utilities:  Jeremy Cameron, Lachie Hunter,  Tory Dickson

Calgary Fireflies

Defenders: Kade Simpson, Andrew Mackie, Lachie Hansen, Marco Paparone

Midfielders: Tom Rockliff, Jordan Lewis, Gary Ablett, Levi Greenwood, Taylor Adams, David Swallow

Ruckman: Stefan Martin

Forwards: Dayne Zorko, Mitch Robinson, Brent Harvey, Steve Johnson

Utilities: Leigh Montagna, Shaun Grigg, Luke Dunstan

Interchange: Shaun Gibson(Mid), Aaron Hall(Fwd), Eric Mackenzie(Def), Matthew Kreuzer(Ruck)

Love the midfield finally I actually have a midfield that doesn't rely on Rockliff scoring 150 each week

Thanks man. Guys who have Nat 1 to Nat 5 better look out  ;) You pick the wrong guy i'll swoop one of the big 5 haha.

Daaahmm. Tbh top 5 should be pretty straight forward. Its the next few which are the toughies. I could still use 6 on who I wanted at 9... just so i can secure him haha. Heaps of people say its a shallow draft... its not too bad if you look hard enough.

Lol, Ceglar in the 2s for more than 1/2 the season although now Hale's retired he's more chance of playing. Naismith didn't play a game all season, Holmes played 2, Sinclair won't start again after that grand final effort and Clarke and Hannath are both behind Sandi and Griffin...see no rucks!

Is this true? Because I'm hoping there is no substantive truth to any of these grapevine rumours.

Crows fans are saying the same thing about Wingard and the Hawks (the 'deal done months ago' spiel). It's strange that all these grapevine rumours involve a player going to the Hawks and never going to one of the other 17 clubs..  :P

I honestly think the Crows fans disseminating these rumours are just distraught about the Dangerfield departure and want to see something comparable happen to their rivals.

Lol :o obviously I haven't investigated it too thoroughly and I'm not actually sure who the source was I just heard a rumour from a guy (he's an Essendon supporter mind you) saying he wants out and Hawthorn is his preferred destination. With some of the trades Clarko has pulled off it wouldn't surprise me but it was just a rumour I heard.

So back to this
Since they will now have a week off before the finals start,we will be leaving the Grand Final in Round 23

Is there any way I can get compo picks?

Players are literally falling off my list by the day
1. Kieren Harper
2. David Hale
3. Max Duffy
4. Craig Moller
5. Rohan Bail
6. James Toohey
7. Tom Logan
8. Chris Newman
9. Rhyce Shaw
10. Jordan Bourke
11. Kane Mitchell (hopefully will be re-drafted)
12. Jarrad Grant (hopefully will be re-drafted)

That's approximately 22% of my list going out the door (I feel like the Brisbane Lions  :P )

8 draft picks isn't enough to cover the loss (of-course I'll be willing to see if Grant, Mitchell and any others get re-drafted - all listed players are being retained and no-one on my list is eligible for delistment due to 'substandard performance')

Yeah what will happen is I'll work out how many players teams are short then work the remaining draft order by ladder position same as the rest of the draft and teams will just pick until their lists are full.

Who reckons next year that DT will introduce TPP/Utility type of player position (can play in def/mid/fwd)? And if so, who on your team would you think could gain such a status?

For me I have 2, possibly 3 players that could fall under this category in Luke Hodge, Elliot Yeo (who played KPD, foward flanker, rotating midfielder and rucked a game last season hahaha) and possibly Brendon Goddard.

I believe it is something that they may introduce next season, and something I could possibly benefit from, though it would only be a extremely select few of players if they decided to introduce this.

Its been talked about before, not sure if its been mentioned lately, not sure if they would ?

Havent looked into it but off the top of my head from my team .. maybe Jarryd Roughead ..can play anywhere really.

I've been writing to them for about ages about a UTI position. I hate having 4 or 5 subs playing but not the position that needs to be subbed. It sucks!
Charlie Dixon has been back, forward and rucked, Tom J Lynch the same. But I don't think I have a back/mid/fwd on my team. Would be a huge advantage to us playing XVIII to have a guy like that tho.

Hey all

Unfortunately, I've been, and I am further expecting to be, swamped with work and university and feel as if I can only dedicate my time to one fantasy football side. As I have been the coach of the Santiago Cockerels, in AmericasXVIII SC, for two seasons and have put a significant time and effort into that side I regret to inform you all that I wish to step down from my coaching role at Vancouver.

I have enjoyed being a part of the comp. and would like to thank all of you for the fantastic work you have put in over my tenure in the league.

Regards
PSK  :)

So he has organised a coach to take over the team immediately which is great, means we don't have to delay the rookie draft, his assistant coach of the team Nige
Welcome back to America's DT Nige
And thankyou to PSK for taking over the team when we needed a coach and were having problems finding new ones at the time.

Thanks everyone

It has been an honour to coach in this competition and I will miss managing the side (esp. since the back line has been rebuilt)

I hope to see you around the forum and know that Nige will do a fantastic job coaching. I'll be sure to check into the league now and then to see how the side is going

Again, cheers for the opportunity, I know the selection criteria is quite rigorous and I'm honoured to have been entrusted with one of the teams  :)

El Paso team list now updated with position changes.

A few new DPP's are handy. Wells and Hutchings are handy M/F 's but Van Berlo getting D/M could be gold.
Benny McGlynn a Fwd wasn't expected either, but a nice surprise.

Title: Re: General Discussion
Post by: Pkbaldy on January 11, 2016, 08:52:00 PM
Hey fellas, i've been stewing on an idea for one of these formats for nearly 9 months now. And seeing as Americas DT is the most stable comp, i want to through out this suggestion and see if it grabs on. Personally I think it'll add a lot more depth and thought into the game, mainly around trade and draft season.

The quick pitch of the idea is that each team will have it's own 'Academy Student' (Potential 2016 draftee), with that Academy Student you're entitled to draft them when it comes to the National Draft, IF you're able to make up the points to secure that player. The initial pick for these students can work in a reverse ladder or lottery pick, that doesn't really matter at this point. But using the same Academy Points system that the AFL use we can work out the worth of the player when it comes to matching.

So say we go off the lottery, and the order for the first 4 picks are;

1. Bolivia - Darcy Tucker
2. Arizona - Callum Mills
3. Washington - Jacob Weitering
4. Calgary - Jacob Hopper

And say this was the draft positioning for the end of the year;

1. Bolivia - Selects Jacob Hopper
2. Washington- Selected Callum Mills
11. Arizona (+N23, +N35)
12. Calgary (+N24, +N36)

So once Bolivia select Jacob Hopper, Calgary then have 24 hours to match the offer or pass it. But with the 3 picks that Calgary have do not equal to 3000 points, so they have to forfeit up their academy student and Boliva get him. AND Bolivia also have the chance to pick up Darcy Tucker if they use the required points/picks to get him.   Now in the case of Washington's pick, Callum Mills is worth 2517 points, Arizona currently own pick 11, 23 and 35 which equals 2646. So if Arizona felt like they wanted to match the offer they use up those points to move into 2nd pick and claim their Academy Student with 129 points left over which gives them N62 or we call it N61.5 and everyone else slides down, or completely vanquish the rest of the points to stop confusion.

This is just a quick pitch, so I would love to hear peoples feed back. I think it'll add a bit more meaning to trading draft picks if you're higher on the ladder and you've selected a decent Academy Student. I am willing to post stuff on this years draftees (i've got my personal top 15 already on the 2016 U18s page), and if we decide to run this, i'm willing to help anyone who has questions on this years draftees. A good template for picking someone would be to look at the AIS players, 26/33 of them made it into the AFL system, some not as high as they were suggested to be. Eg. This time last year I had Darcy Tucker going at #1 (Drafted in the 30s or 40s) and Stephen Tahana in my top 30 (Didn't even get drafted), so it can be a swing or a miss. But as I said it adds a bit more depth to the game.

Thanks mate :P It's pretty much the academy the AFL has now, but each team gets 1 player, they select from a quick draft. Which is either done in reverse ladder or randomized. It's hard to explain, easier to execute imo :P

And with youtube and a lot of AFL pages, it's pretty easy to find out who the top of the crop is. Best way is to look at the Level Two Squad that are heading to Florida, and search them individually to see how they play, and what sort of positions.

LEVEL TWO SQUAD

Vic Country: Ben Ainsworth, Jy Simpkin, Will Brodie, Jarrod Berry, Jarrod Korewha, Josh Battle, Myles Poholke, Alex Witherden
Vic Metro: Jordan Gallucci, Jack Scrimshaw
South Australia: Steven Slimming, Jack Graham, Jonty Scharenberg, Peter Ladhams
Western Australia: Sam Petrevski-Seton, Noah Hura, Sam Powell-Pepper, Josh Rotham, Luke Strnadica, Jeremy Goddard, Jake Waterman
Queensland: Brad Scheer, Jack Bowes, Jacob Allison
NSW/ACT: Kobe Mutch, Will Setterfield, Zac Sproule, Harrison Macreadie
Northern Territory: Brandan Parfitt
Tasmania: Ben McGuinness

Yeah it just opens up a lot more options when it comes to strategy, academy selection and trading for picks etc . Like I say there are probably positives and negatives and I would have to run scenarios through my head before I said I was in favour or not.

Might be good way of using some of those draft picks you get that you cant normally use to get your academy player if needed.. that's if your academy player is any good ?

Reverse ladder order would probably be better if it was something that admin and coaches wanted.

Yeah well if Bolivia had #1 this time last year. I wouldn't of hesitated, I would of chosen Darcy Tucker. And I would of been able to match the bid against LF at pick 30, wouldn't cost me much, but he isn't a worthy pick compared to like Hopper and Mills. Adds so much more depth, can backfire though :P

Mini draft for Academy rights either in the form of reverse ladder or lottery.

Obviously it'll only be 1 round, so it's only effecting 12 players. So it'll be quick and pretty easy to manage through out this years National Draft, mainly if 2 or 3 end up pick 40+ draftees... which CAN happen.

Regarding any suspended Essendon players,I am thinking this could work am open to any ideas tho as to how to handle it.
Officially delist the player affected for the season and do a mini draft based on the players worth eg if a player is your main ruck then he'd be worth more than another player
Then at seasons end the players picked in the mini draft are delisted back into the player pool and each team gets their original player back so lists all remain the same size.

But either way it doesn't bother me, as it barely effects my team.

Still, don't expect a player to get season injuries during pre-season.

It's not like it's a 5 year ban.

I can see peoples teams getting stronger when they release who the top of players are. As I could see a fair few of them being ex AFL players like Stokes, Kelly and ect...

Injuries are part of the game always have been, WADA bans ..not.

Heppell for Kelly ... I think I know who I would want.

I think we should just work out who is missing that has a big impact on a team and then as a comp we come to an agreement as to who they should get from the top up players as a replacement.

I think you have to pick from the position they come from. However just my opinion we need to have an order of the picks like Watson, Stanton etc are more important to teams than Colyer and Bellchambers
Title: Re: General Discussion

Yep so we identify who needs what, in a certain position, and then as comp we agree what top up player they should get as a replacement.

I don't think we should be replacing every player banned .. I have Pears, I was happy to see if he could get some games this year but he wouldn't have made my starting team. I don't want a replacement for him.

Hang on a minute pretty sure admin has the final say in what happens and teams will be drafting their own players hence why there will be  a draft order based on team needs player quality etc
It is their team and nobody else's so why should other coaches be picking players for them.

FFS .. im just suggesting some things, we don't have to make a decision in 5 mins. Just do you want don't give shower anymore.

As I said I don't want compo picks for my players.

What happens if injury strikes your team? Those 2 compo players you get could help...

I have plenty of players to cover, in these sorts of situations we should try to compromise. As I said I would even loan a player like a ruck if a team didn't have one.

Could everyone who has players affected by this regardless of them being just depth or you don't want compo for them post them in the now unlocked delistings thread so we can get a proper overview of all teams thank you

So say we go off the lottery, and the order for the first 4 picks are;

1. Bolivia - Darcy Tucker
2. Arizona - Callum Mills
3. Washington - Jacob Weitering
4. Calgary - Jacob Hopper

And say this was the draft positioning for the end of the year;

I suppose you think im going to add this to the comp next year aswell lol, just because I was admin once doesn't mean I cant have an opinion or give some suggestions on a subject.

Haha... Well start hating it :P

Nah don't fret too much mate. Everything will get sorted out properly :P Sure your input is great. We all just need to relax more, Atto n LF will get this shower sorted out. Only 1 of 2 ways it can go. And the current idea seems good.

Everyone should be allowed to have an opinion and give suggestions. If nobody ever came up with ideas or suggestions you wouldn't be putting your idea forward for academy players.

On the academy thing, I'm not too much of a fan, I don't really see the point in adding it in. I see it more of a fun inclusion, but one that isn't needed. Will only make the draft more complicated, so why fix a system that ain't broke?

But my input is rather us do a mini draft, somehow zone all the teams where say for example Washington and Dallas can only acadamy a player from NSW/ACT or Tasmania, whereas Los Angeles and Arizona can only select players from WA etc.

On the Essendon thing I have Paddy Ryder, which is a reasonable loss, a big loss in my SC though :'( happy to do whatever you're coming up with LF

That's fine. The original idea was that... But it would of made things much more complicated, as there are only about 4 or 5 kids drafted through the academy each year and we have 12 teams :P But all good. I still like it ;) Be fun haha.

I'd help you out with Ryder... But i've only got Gawn and Lycett now...

Yeah fair enough, its not like I'm against the idea, you put in some solid work it seems so kudos. But yer I sort of don't want the extra hassel it brings to the draft, especially since it's not live, meaning it could take a bit more time waiting for bids and matches. I know that sounds stupid since we do have like 3 months from draft to pre season so time isn't an issue but yer hahahaha

Nahh losing Ryder in this competition shouldn't hurt too much unless blitz goes down, it's in SC where it stings, but oh well it's only 1 season at the end of the day

We use the RDT site not AF so all player positions are locked in as is now for the whole season.
