Hi all!

Season 2013 is about to begin - and membership bases need to be built.

In 2014, your home game advantage will be at least partially dependent on your membership points levels (how much I'm still working out). No impact in 2013

Points earnt:

- 10 points for being top vote getter in a weekly membership poll (this poll!)

- 10 points for being the first team to submit your team each week (after the previous round has closed, in this case after the NAB cup final) + 5 points for submitting by Midnight thursday.

- 10 points for graphic design/team thread (post links to your team thread and graphics here to earn!)

- 5 points for high scoring team for the round

- 5 points for high scoring player for the round

- 5 point for players getting awards (All-Worlds, Medals, Rising Star etc)

- 5 points for each win (a bonus point for every consecutive win)

- 20 points for making finals

- 20 points for winning World Idol

- 100 points for winning the flag

- 5 points for each spot increased on the ladder from 2012

- 5 points for each Champions League win

- 20 points for each Alliance announced (limit 1 per Competition, and they can't be shared (i.e. BXV's Swindon can only match with 1 World team).

- 1 points per day for updating scores during the round

- 20 points for the winner of the SC League

- 5 points for announcing best and fairest, 20 for a proper write-up

- More to be announced!

The first membership poll closes on on the Round 1 kick off!

Gave the Wolves their first, and what I'm expecting to be only vote haha. This is about the time I'm regretting not having any assistants.

Seems like a few have got Toga to do their designing - surely you can't win, taking credit for someone elses work?

In saying that, remember c4's membership drive for the Islanders? If I'm allowed to use all those members that signed up, I am a lock for membership...

You can post the team first, but are you allowed to edit it? Cause some people may post a team early, but then edit it later in the week anyway. If so, should expect a flood when the next round thread opens trying to get it (if people are on) :P.

Good point! I'll be interested as well as alot use C4's or Toga's or even CF's designs for their emblems and some for team pages.

was going to say that same sort of thing before HP and Purps
that as soon as a round ended you could post a default one you had saved regardless of ins and outs and edit it later

one thing i still dislike about it is the poll simply turns into a popularity contest
or who spends the most time wooing ppl with bells and whistles on the front bar
considering not one other thing is posted in the FB about the World XVs just proves it will come down to a popularity contest

but that of course ossman is why you have done other things to gain points from i know

Agree with Daz here that it will become a popularity contest each week.  Some coaches have the time to build the multi media club etc but we poor coaches with non design skills will suffer. 

Going to be hard to judge the Graphic Design when one or 2 designers are doing all teams.  Just pointing out the fact.

In favour of the idea of getting a number of factors but just concerned as how the membership and team thraeds may become a popularity contest.

Agree with Ringo though as alot using the same designers (I have for the Logos as they were awesome!). Popularity contest will be interesting, but we want to try and get these "members" to try and follow the team rather than a one off vote.

Get around the reigning premiers in Seniors and Reserves, and soon to be Preseason champions :)

Lots of things to sort out :)

- The point of graphics/team threads is to get coaches involved and getting things organised... This doesn't mean they can't delegate :) So if other people do graphics for them, that's fine with me.....

- Will allocate points for graphics/team design a bit later! I can't see most of them at work (damn firewall)

- Points for Champions League results is also a good idea! Done

- Adding a new points basis - 20 points for each alliance forged with a team from another competition (1 per comp, and they have to be unique, i.e. Swindon from the BXV can only match with 1 WXV team)

- Yes, you are allowed to edit your team. This is reward for teams putting in a team in time. I may change it though, say 10 points for the first team, and 5 points for each team entered by Thursday Midnight. Happy to debate....

- Popularity is a part of it for sure, but would say results drive most of the points. Similar to real life I think...

- The current poll is the first membership drive, the poll will reset each round.

can one BXV team be connected to two WXV teams?

for example one of the Samurai's alliances will be the Birmingham Bombers in BXV but then can PNL also have an Alliance with the Bombers if they wish?

I should have made an alliance with lez, than refused to create an alliance with any other worlds team ;)

Do we have to update after every match to get the 5 points? Or just update it on saturday and sunday morning?

If you update your team score on any day you get 5 points... can only happen once a day though AFTER a football match

thats correct. Lez and I are allies in all comps. He is my assitant in the worlds and im his in the British and Asian. We both have Euro teams but are allies in that too.

Yep, the head coach of the other team in EXV/BXV/AXV needs to PM me that they are allies. So far only 1 has....

It's isn't compulsory for another team to make an alliance with you so he can turn it down. Seeing as it will mean another team gets points, fair enough if they want to get ahead on the membership points ;). No idea how it disadvantages his Euro's team though :P.

The Cairo Sands have formed an alliance with and are happy to announce that the Leeds Leeches (BXV) and Manila Folders (AXV) are our brother clubs. BB67th has confirmed this but if you want I can get the confirmation in a quote from PM or you can PM him to check.  :)

So this means you get 20 extra membership points in 2014 when you play Dublin. This could be make or break when you verse Dublin and if I made Dublin lose then how dumb do I look?

A flowering good reason IMO. Why would I want other teams to beat the team I am a part?

I'm not on FF that much anymore and as a result I hadn't had a real look at this membership points idea. Sorry for not raising concerns earlier but I would now like express my general distaste for the idea, and I for one will not be jumping through hoops trying to earn imaginary brownie points that seem to be distributed fairly randomly on the basis of reguarly changing criteria.

I would call it jumping through hoops; I can nearly garantuee you that if clubs weren't getting membership points they wouldn't be making their round 1 teams look nice.
And I had seen people mentioning membership points all over the place and had the rough idea but hadn't had time to fully read it or express my opinion. Be worried about my involvement when my team sucks, I'm not there for trading discussions and aren't naming a team each week.
I also think asking an assistant to join your club just so they can do graphics for you is kinda rude. I don't think clubs need more than one assistant anyway and I sure as hell know I'm not going to fire LE (for example) just because someone else says they'll make my thread look pretty.

Regarding the round 1 team graphics MC as I mentioned when I posted mine I had actually designed that back in December (maybe early Jan) before there had been talk any talk of membership points. Maybe others wouldn't have bothered though you're right.

Still a lot of points are available for things that don't require the use of graphics and do go buy how your team performs so not like you will miss out on heaps if you don't do anything. Plus as Ossie said its not going to affect the scores a great deal next season anyway.

Good point CF, a good team will score membership points just fine.

Not suggesting you fire assistants My Chumps, and there's no requirement for only 1 assistant. All up to personal choice.

Some people (CF and Purple for example) already make 'things look pretty'. Those coaches, and many others, should be rewarded in whatever small way for this IMO and for contributing to the game beyond there own team.

So, are you saying, if we take this weekend for example, that if we update our teams the morning after, so on saturday and sunday morning, we would get 10 points in total?

Or are you saying that, you can only get the 10 points for this weekend if you update it with FF scores on the night of the game, provided you update it again the morning after?

I feel like I need to read this pretty carefully..

Am calculating points gradually.... Takes a lot of time!

But one thing I'll add is that I've reduced the 'updating your team during the round' points from 5 points, to 1 point, as I think it is scewing the results a bit. Sound ok?

Sounds fair to me. Just wish I had more time so I could have continued writing my match reports. Didn't even have time to do one for the grand final :(

As the head coach of the Taiwan Dolphins (Asians XVs) I would like to announce an official partnership between us and the Cape Town Cobras.

I had previous indicated that we were linked to another World's club (I forgot who) but never confirmed it after I found out the coach/coaches of that team already had an Asians team  and it seemed to me like they only wanted to partner with me to prevent another Worlds team from doing so.

Why else wouldn't they partner with there own Asians team?

Cameron Guthrie who's set for a big 2014 season and is now owned by both clubs is to be the ambassador between Taiwan and Cape Town.

I guess Chumps to confirm from Cape Town's end if it's needed?

But I'm coach of the Lobsters in BXVs, so I reckon we can partner them and become brother clubs?

I'm sure teabs won't mind partnering the AXVs Tibetan Llamas as well since I'm assistant there. Will probably have to get him to confirm though.  :P

Confirmed I guess! A sturdy partnership.

Should be good. Both teams in similar spots - did really well in our first season (Cape Town were GF's and we were 2nd on the ladder) but going through a bit of a rebuild phase.

Cape Town well ahead of where Taiwan is at the moment as we're taking 14 draft picks this year (across both drafts) and we won't be too far behind.

Yeah, final points could still be a while :P
