The plan is to randomise the order and have the national draft leftovers, pre season draft selections, rookie draft selections and all avilable players left.
If you guys want all aviable afl players left we will need to finish of the first draft left which shouldnt take too much time as people only have 2-3 picks left.
I would like to here your opinions on the rules of this draft
reserved
Not a fan on having AFL leftovers available in Pre Season/ Rookies draft. No one from the actual Pre-Season draft will be picked. If you include AFL players you shouldn't have a second draft and just add 5 more picks to the AFL draft.
In my opinion;
Keep it to Pre-season drafted, rookie drafted and national draft left overs. That way we will have a bigger player pool to choose from next year when delisting and recruiting players (if we go that way).

yeah good idea, next year im thinking of allowing afl players on this list. So if you want alot you could skip 2-3 of your national draft picks and have 8 picks in this draft.
OK the draft will be up tonight and randomised no afl players allowed till next year
Great Holz. I'll might be out tonight but if so I'll see them tommorow. I'm hoping a 4-8 pick.
yep, sounds good. I support having all afl listed players who have not been picked put in the draft.

this year or just from next year on? currently people are not wanting afl players this year
I think Zip meant next year onwards. That's why he said "sounds good".

thats what i wanted too as really i dont want many of the players on the rookie list maybee about 10 or so. I think if we include afl players those who want rookies can go that way. If everyone picks afl players im happy taking rookies, remeber guys like cox were picked on the rookie list.
5 pick 14 players thats 70, i cant see people wanting 70 rookies but maybee 30-40 are worth it.
So what are we doing?

The reason i prefer it without unpicked AFL players and just PSD, Rookie and national draft left overs is that once again it makes it all teh more realistic, it also gives us a chance to find a gem off of a rookie list, making the find all the more better.
I agree with MTTY. I don't think there is an advantage including AFL leftovers and it would be alot more realistic to not include AFL leftovers.
... think of it this way, it's more realistic having afl left overs. If they haven't been picked, they're not in a club, so logically, they don't have a contract etc. and are free to nominate for the draft :P
It will make everything more complicated. There will be confusion on whether a player is picked or not.
nope, just have the list of the previous drafts up on the first page. I mean, we'd have to run it after the other drafts or it would get confusing. But, I'd prefer to do that anyway- the draft slowed down considerably when we ran it consecutively with the national draft :P
No AFL leftovers. If you want them, get them now.
That's my opinion.
thats 2 for afl players will wait abit longer till more people vote and it becomes more clear

l'm starting to get worried now.......am agreeing with you a bit too often now :P
As far as who l might pick.....
yes there will probably be some non-selected AFL listed players that l want
but there l definately have a list of rookie "gems" that l hope to get my hands on too
......however l want the flexibility to choose who l want, to fit in with the structure of my team
There is an easy solution to this, but i know it won't happen.
More players get picked in the first draft. Whether it be 5 or 10 more.

That's what I said earlier. I doubt any Rookies/ Pre-Season draftees will get picked.
Anyway I vote "No" AFL leftovers in the Rookies/Pre-Season draft.

The unpicked players from the ND should count because the only reason I passed 2 picks in the ND was because I expected them to be available. Also, are we doing this on two drafts (one for the passes in the ND, then the rest in normal order) just like in the real AFL does with the PSD and RD ? Ie, so everyone has 30 players going into the RD.

That's why i didn't pass, coz i thought they wouldn't be available as it would run like the SC draft and the real AFL Pre-Season draft, with the same players.
The same reason I didn't too.
ok i have changed my mind it will be done with no afl players i have changed my mind, i will follow the world 15s draft. If you want an afl player its your time to get them.
An idea Hp suggested and i think it should make people happy.
Is afl players are included but you can only pick a max of 2 players on afl lists .
it will either make everyone happy or everyone not happy

Yep l for 1 like HPs suggestion, it strikes a good balance between both sides of the arguement, and is unfair to neither......maybe even stretch it to 3?
Or maybe have a PSD just like in AFL for all of the passes, and then the rookie draft happens as normal ?

another good idea ;D
I think this would be good. You have a normal PSD/Rookie draft like the AFL and you are ALLOWED to pass. Then have another little draft where you get 2 or 3 picks and can get AFL leftovers from that. If you passed in the Rookie/PSD then you get a pick in the Leftovers draft AFTER your passed pick in the Rookie/PSD. Anybody like that idea?
So what is the verdict on this?? I need to know as it will affect my final selection in the first draft.
Yeah, two different drafts( Which most people are supporting or squash them together. :(
Sooooooooooo, can we select un-picked players from the first draft here??

i dont see why we just dont do the 1 draft where you can pick 2 left over afl players. The only difference with your idea is it makes it more complicated and adds another step but achieves the same goal.
PB no matter what idea we go for the straight forward simple one or the 2 draft system you will be picking up a max of 2 afl leftovers.
Ok, so i may pick up an AFL leftover in this draft :)
Coz i have someone who i really want, but probably not worth it in the 1st draft, but will take him next if i can't get him here.
No 2 drafts would be easier, or else you will have to make a draft list with all uneven amounts of picks per team. Not to mention that's going to disadvantage the people who passed the ND, who would have to pick basically at the end of this draft now, what a waste.

not sure how it disadvantages people who passed, this draft is confusing so if you could on that would be good.
If you skipped pick 63 in the national draft you will get the pick after pick 63 in this draft. So if you skipped in round 5 of course you wont get a good pick.
But some people might have passed more in the ND if they knew this is what i beleive he meant.

why would you pass more you still only get 2 picks, if you pass and have 6 picks you now take 4 rookies over 3 whats the difference
holz, if we've come to a conclusion about this, can you post it on the first post? if you could answer the following questions
1) How many drafts are left
2) how many players can be taken in each draft
3) What players can be taken in each draft (AFL, national etc.)

i was going with
1. 1 draft left
2. max of 2 players can be taken in the draft that are leftovers from the 1st draft, a total of 5 players will be taken in the round
3. can take take leftover players from the national draft, preseason draft picks, rookie draft picks and max of 2 afl leftovers.
i was going to do the exact same thing as the SC version except allow afl leftovers too.
People seem to be opposing it but thats the plan
k, I'm fine with it.
It's just that its way different to the actual AFL system, and if ibhad known we could take unselected AFL players with rookie picks, then I wouldn't have bothered passing. I still would have however if the passed picks formed a PSD just like in AFL. The way its going to happen makes the passes in the other draft basically useless, and disadvantageous.

Why would you not have skipped the draft if we could take unselected players, so are you saying if i just said rookies and pre season picks you would be happier having skipped. Wont allowing afl players enable you to get better rookies than before and if you have 6 instead of 5 wouldn't a larger pool be advantageous to you. If anything i think it gives people who have skipped a disadvantage.
ok now i see what you mean, you want picks before everyone else. I still dont see how adding afl listed players weakens it. If you were attending to have the preaseason picks before the rookie draft, this was not how it was done in the SC version, the only difference is im allowing afl players which should advantage those with more picks.
In the draft rules however i had this rule up the whole time and i did explain it to people
You can choose to pass. This will give you an extra pick in the rookie/pre-season draft. I.e. If you pass your first round pick #8, you get an extra first round pick AFTER pick 8 of the rookie/preseason draft first pick.
i later than went on to explain if you skipped at pick 63 you would have the pick after pick 63 in the rookie draft.
I fell it would be extremely disadvantageous to those who had understood the rules and choose not to pass, to create a pre season draft.
i certaitnly would have passed probably both my 4th and 5th round pick.
I dont fell the pick is useless as a 5th round pick in the national draft is worth around the same as a 5th round pick inthe rookie perhaps even more with the introduction of afl players.
If you feel strongly against this post but note i probably wont be on the next 2 days
so, do we have the randomised draft order yet?
god l hope l'm one of the early picks, after what happened to me with all the positional changes
Just looking down a list of the AFL players and there is still a great deal of quality yet to be picked up!!!

make your picks carefully than. I think its good there are good players left it means we have to make smart decisions, also you will need to decide at the end of the year if you will de-list players to pick up guys you might have missed.
Yeah true, more thinking involved than I thought :P

I wouldn't have passed because I would have just used my rookie picks to pick up the afl players I still wanted, I didn't need to pass to be able to do that. You say I'm trying to get picks before everybody else, when in actual fact I'm delaying previous picks to be able to do that so I'm actually losing in that stake. I didn't play nor am I following the SC version, so I couldn't tell we were using their system. This is your game with your rules so obviously I have to take it as it comes now, but that's ok because I have sort of come up with a new drafting strategy, but now I have to wait for the draft order ;)

Had the same problem in SC Version with people not reading the rules. The rules were said, and people either didn't read them or forgot them, and now want them changed which disadvantages the people who did read them.
Given those rules were said on the front page - in red - in both the DT and the SC versions of this competition, it's a little weird to say you didn't know
