NEWS: Unlucky Cat Daniel Menzel had a secret third knee reconstruction. In a desperate bid to save his AFL career, the 21-year-old had LARS surgery on his left knee which he injured at training just days before Christmas.
| ||||
NEWS: Menzel believes he will be 100% come Round 1, 2013, as he recovers from his 2nd knee reconstruction. Menzel told geelongcats.com.au "I got off crutches just before the three-week mark, and to be able to walk around now is so much better than being on crutches. You start physio work probably a week or two after the operation, and a big part of it is getting your quads back. Then once you've got some stability in the knee and in your quads then you're able to walk around. "The quicker you can do it, without putting too much stress on the joint, the better."

NEWS: In a huge blow to Geelong, it has now been confirmed that Menzel has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament against North Ballarat at Simonds Stadium in the VFL on Saturday. He will miss the remainder of the season.
| ||||
NEWS: Geelong coach Chris Scott said at Simonds Stadium on Tuesday "There's a school of thought that he could play AFL footy this week, such has been his training level. I wouldn't expect to see him playing AFL footy before the bye [in round 12]. But post-bye he will have had two full games and another really solid week of training through the bye. So we wouldn't think it's out of the realms of possibility that he could come back into the team after that."

NEWS: Cats coach Chris Scott said "Menz has been training the house down and the doctors and coaching staff are comfortable he is at the point where he is ready to play competitive football."
