Shane McAdam has come into the Melbourne side at a point where their forward line is not just in transition, it flat out does not work. Their attack in their flag year not that long ago centred around Tom McDonald, who dropped away sharply and is now in defence. Harrison Petty was thought to be the next answer, but injury has ruined his 2024. Simon Goodwin has tried to make the best of a poor hand dealt to him, and perhaps McAdam is at least a short-term solution to the question of how the Demons build a winning score. He doesn't provide much outside goals, however.

Old, Shane
A calf injury in preseason and then a hamstring mid-year meant that Shane McAdam never built enough momentum to earn a senior berth last year as a mature-aged recruit, finishing with 22.12 from 14 SANFL matches at a fantasy scoring rate of 59. The Crows need new ideas in their forward line, so if fit McAdam should get a burl in the ones at some stage. His numbers at the lower level suggest a role staying too deep to be startable in basic fantasy scoring formats.
Spark in mature McAdam
A mature-aged recruit via the WAFL and then SANFL, Shane McAdam booted 31 goals from 17 matches for Sturt last season, going at rates of 11 disposals, four marks and two tackles. McAdam's main focus in preseason will be building fitness, as the step up from the lower level will be a struggle for him to start with. He will not be a factor in draft leagues in 2019, despite hype from salary cap formats.
