North Adelaide product Jordon Sweet was blessed with a surprise selection in the 2018 rookie draft before playing 17 matches for Footscray. The versatile big man notched up 50 or more hit outs on five occasions, twice named in the best. The retirement of Tom Boyd leaves the door ajar for someone to slide into a supportive ruck role should Tim English fall injured. However, Sweet will need to slide past Jackson Trengove to snare that opening. Don't expect Sweet to play much, if at all, and overlook him for backup bench player.

Sweet is one out of the box
Developing his craft as a ruckman at North Adelaide, Jordon Sweet came as something of a surprise selection at the rookie draft. Considered average or below average for disposals and hit outs, Sweet recorded the second best hit out to advantage rate of any player at SANFL level. Opportunities will be limited for Sweet as he continues to learn his ruck craft at the lower levels. With Tim English and Tom Boyd expected to lead the ruck department, it appears unlikely Sweet will be used in the primary competition.
