Full back Joel Hamling continues to perform an admirable role against the opposition's primary target. Standing the gorillas of the competition, he was rarely beaten in an oft-besieged defence. Hamling's relevance comes in his ability to stop the opposition. Negating fantasy points rarely leads to strong returns and that trend continues with him.

Jamming with Hamling
After flying over from the Western Bulldogs following 2016, Joel Hamling has settled into Fremantle’s starting squad as a key defensive cog. Last season saw the premiership player average a career high 14 possessions and 55 fantasy points. Hamling was added to Ross Lyon’s leadership group in the off season and will continue to rally the troops down back. Hamling is a walk-up starter in Fremantle’s squad and will play every game barring the event of injury or suspension. Unfortunately for fantasy coaches, due to his ultra-accountable role and team-first approach, he isn’t the type of player who accumulates the high possession tallies. There are better options for bench cover, so avoid Hamling in the draft.
Hamling opposite of pig
Fresh off a premiership at the Bulldogs, Joel Hamling played all 22 games for Freo last season standing the best opposition forward, a rather thankless job at the Dockers these days. Hamling's job does not involve much of leather on palm, he'd rather feel the pigskin on the outside of his fist when spoiling his man. Like most full backs, he is not fantasy relevant.
