Jake Bowey has become one of the most prolific half backs in the league in recent weeks, so much so that opposition coaches have started sending a defensive forward to track his elite endurance running around the ground to add extra numbers where they are needed. It's not that he is a particularly sizzling kick delivering inside 50, and Melbourne's forward set up is not that dangerous to begin with, but he is turning into one of those players who beat you with sheer weight of numbers - a tasty prospect for fantasy coaches. He is a strong prospect for elite back status in 2025.

Jake Bowey has found his way into a lot of fantasy teams this yea,r probably too many as his job security was always in doubt as he was filling in for the injured Christian Salem. There was a reason he was set to spend most of the year at Casey, and one of those is that he just doesn't have the ball-winning capability of Salem, being more of a classic stay-at-home defender at times than a creative flanker who zones off in the modern style. This sort of player will bob up for a good score when the game style suits, but his floor is way too low to be a keeper.
Jake Bowey has made his way into a fair few fantasy sides before price changes kick in for round 3, off the back of a monster game with 34 touches and nine marks in the win over Gold Coast. In only his second season of senior action with less than ten appearances, he has cemented a HBF spot with the classic combination of dash off the mark and positioning to receive that fuels all good fantasy defenders. It may be a touch too early to expect 22 games of this sort of output, but plenty are betting he will at least be a solid stepping stone prior to the byes, after which he may tire.
