Hayden Young has had no continuity in his senior footy at Fremantle in what is still a very early career phase, but last week saw by far his best statistical return in a loss to the Lions. Fremantle doesn't tend to produce premium fantasy defenders and there is no particular reason why the Longmire era should feature one, but if there is to be an intercept specialist with no responsibility for a key forward then it may well be Young. He should be on the watchlist of fantasy coaches going into the last two games of the season with a view to 2022 value.

Call me Young gun
The Dockers' first selection at the November draft, Hayden Young shone as an attacking weapon from half back in his final junior season. The long-kicking left footer gained the second-most metres at the Championships and the most intercept possessions. Young also enjoyed terrific performance at the Combine, ranking first in the agility test and producing an explosive 20 metre sprint. The youngster has stepped up from day one of preseason and is already putting his name forward for a round 1 debut. With impressive numbers throughout his junior career, the question becomes how quickly Young can translate his play to the primary competition. Expect him to be a mainstay for fantasy sides in the near future, but keep him on the watchlist for now as year one can be less than startable even for such talents.
