Too small to run out a full season as senior level, Chayce Jones was given three tastes of it during 2019 in between SANFL stints. His disposal efficiency of 76% at the lower level was impressive, though he could only manage 64% in the ones along with a drop in every other major stat. Jones needs to pack on the kegs in the weight room, which means he looms as a classic candidate for second-year syndrome as the dietitians try to bulk him up to survive playing amongst men. 2020 is likely not going to be his breakout, at least not early in the season.
Chayce must get chonk

Pace on the Chayce
One advantage for the Crows having a poor 2018 is that they had the chance to snaffle a top ten draft pick, and while they ended up not trading up to capture a top three prospect they did secure Chayce Jones at pick nine, to bolster their historically shallow midfield stocks. Jones went at a rate of almost a fantasy ton at the Championships with a 50:50 split of contested possession, tending more towards inside 50s than rebound 50s. It seems nearly inevitable that Jones will chase down Richard Douglas for a spot in the Adelaide best 22, if not by round 1 then later in the year. 77kg is not enough to run out a full season playing against men, however, and he would not get anywhere near the same gaudy stat lines as in juniors even if he did play the majority of 2019 in the ones. He'll be popular in salary cap comps, but it's too early to pick him for draft leagues.
