Longstanding GWS Academy product Zachary Sproule was finally gifted his AFL debut in round 22 following four long seasons in the NEAFL where he had lifted his rates to two goals and 16 touches over the past two seasons. He went goalless from five touches. Sproule will need heaven and earth to move if he wants a permanent slot into the GWS forward line, with talent aplenty ahead of him. He'll get his chance at some stage if his NEAFL form continues but shouldn't be drafted.

Green shoots for Sproule
Another development year will be expected for key forward Zachary Sproule. Entering his second season on the rookie list, Sproule averaged a touch under two goals a game for the NEAFL outfit and continued to demonstrate his ability to connect the midfield to forward line with nearly 20 touches a game. A talented runner with the height of a key position prospect is an interesting meshing of skills to develop. Expect limited opportunities for Sproule who is still distinctly learning his craft and filling out his slender frame.
