Zach Tuohy is a poster boy for the entire Geelong list in 2024, and not for many good reasons. He has put in many years of sterling service for the club and deserves to go out in the twilight of his career as a winner, but one gets the feeling that the hooped affair might not salute nearly as often in 2024 as they had been doing during the height of the careers of Dangerfield and Hawkins. Is he going on one year too long, or is this two by now? Chris Scott has never been a coach to play the kids... so maybe it would take a change at the top for the likes of Tuohy to be retired.

Zach Tuohy made his name as a back flanker for Carlton and then Geelong, but over the past two years he has spent a lot of time using his prodigious kick to deliver the ball inside 50 and add a few more goals himself off a half forward flank. His scoring in both positions can be flaky, making him frustrating for use in draft fantasy but always worth a look in daily fantasy. Today's opponent Richmond has lost a lot of soldiers and is carrying a lot of starts going at half rat power, so there may be some rich pickings for the Cat forwards. Or the old Tigers might lift, who can tell?
Tuohy tastes weak
It was a mediocre year for Zach Tuohy who, after 138 consecutive games, was forced to start his campaign on the sidelines after minor knee surgery. His stats dipped to his lowest fantasy output since 2014 with a three-disposal decrease. While usually a mainstay in the Cats' back six, the dashing Irishman was also tried as an attacking weapon at times. Having ticked over 30 in the off season, Tuohy may not reach his mark of 85 reached in years gone by. That said, a late-round pick could prove a steal if he can cement his favourable position across half back without those often pointless excursions up the ground. Keep him on the watchlist.
Tuohy fosters cascade
Zach Tuohy had minor off-season surgery to clean up some knee cartilage, so his preseason has been delayed and he is highly likely to miss round one. This will break a run of 138 straight game for the ex-Blue. Compared to his years at Carlton, the Irishman has unarguably lifted his fantasy scoring ability, due mostly to an increase in touches. The run-and-carry rebounder ranked seventh at the club for possessions and third behind for metres gained. His durability was supposed to be elite, and while his scoring did take a minor dip last year, coaches would be right to be cautious with a play coming off zero preseason. Tuohy should be drafted in the middle rounds, drifting later with that injury news.
Tuohy's sweet taste
In retrospect, the Zach Tuohy trade might be the steal of the century (though Trent Croad says hey). The Cats got him for next to nothing, and he had his best season to date in year seven with 25 disposals per game to join the top echelons of fantasy backs, rivalling only Rory Laird in combining elite levels of rebound 50s with even more score involvements. Tuohy's durability gives him top marks as well, making him one of the more valuable assets as your potential #1 fantasy defender. He doesn't tend to get hard tags, though that may change in 2018 as oppo analysts pore over the stats in the off season and realise how little his teammates do on the rebound. He should be drafted in early rounds.
