Recruited from the SANFL midseason, Will Snelling was shifted from his usual midfield role to a forward rotating through centreat Essendon. He managed three games in the ones before foot soreness intervened, only to return for the final where he booted two goals in a big loss. Given that there aren’t going to be a lot of other alternatives to replacing Mark Baguley in a forward pocket, he’s got as good a chance as any. He gets to play that battle out in the Marsh series, after which he is worth a look as a flier.

Do you buy what he's Snelling?
A new contract to remain on the rookie list after his second season was the reward for Will Snelling for a stellar SANFL campaign which culminated in 23 touches and 14 tackles in the grand final loss, not far away from his usual output for the year. He spent some time in defence during the year as well. Snelling is built like a slightly larger Tony Liberatore, and his unpopular body size must be the only thing holding him back so far because he can find the footy like Libba. He should get some time in the JLT to show he can step up to the bigger league, though he should be undrafted at this stage.
