Athletic tall defender Will Kelly was dealt a double injury blow in his first listed year. An ankle injury suffered at the close of the Oakleigh Chargers' finals series delayed his start to the year, with a hamstring strain sidelining the former pick 29 yet again following four VFL games. Kelly needs time to hone his craft in the twos, so he won't be lining up with the big boys anytime soon. Expect Kelly to impress in future years but not this one. Let him fall into the free agent pool.

Second son of Ned
Son of Collingwood premiership player Craig, Will Kelly is an athletic defender who played nine games in the TAC Cup averaging 13.4 touches and 4.6 marks. He underwent ankle surgery in the off season, but should be back to training in mid-February. As the brother of Adelaide’s Jake Kelly, Will has has been touted as a potential Matthew Scarlett-like defensive general. It’s only his first year at the club, so Kelly will grow and develop in Collingwood’s reserves. One for the future, but not for the present.
