Wil Powell was given a defensive job last week against the Swans, following Isaac Heeney all day and only zoning off rarely to create on the rebound. This is somewhat of a new role for him, and may only be a matchup thing for Heeney's sklll set, but it is still a worry for Powell's fantasy owners as he did a reasonable job against one of the competition's most dangerous forwards. Stuart Dew is still tinkering with his defensive structures and may find that Powell is better suited to play on a man, in which case his fantasy value drops significantly.

Battery low for Powell
With his luck running out in 2019, Will Powell suffered two concussions and an eventual season-ending knee injury. Interspersed between the ailments, the hard-running winger demonstrated improved capacities, collecting 20 or more disposals in the first two fixtures. Powell has endured a restricted preseason to date limited by the right knee meniscus injury, and was expected to return to full capacity in the new year. Rising from a low statistical base over his first two seasons, Powell may prove more compelling in twelve months' time.
Will Powell make it?
Like Jack Martin with whom he was compared as a junior, Wil Powell started his listed career very quietly with just two ventures into double figures in disposals among seven senior appearances in late-season junk time, playing a HFF role in a side getting belted. If Martin is the template then Powell is due a big jump in fantasy scoring in year two; the problem is that he starts ten points further behind the forward baseline than Martin did, and the older Sun barely reached it in his second campaign. Ignore for now.
