Hawthorn's short-term strategy for trading in Tyrone Vickery was mainly to cover in ruck for the injured Jonathon Ceglar, albeit probably only in support for Ben McEvoy. Longer term, he also has to take big grabs and kick goals to replace Jarryd Roughead. He didn't play much ruck last season with only two hit outs per game, and his contested mark average of 1.4 would have been good for second at the Hawks behind James Sicily. In his better years his fantasy scoring has been on the edge of relevance but last year was a poor one, dropping 15 points. The most likely scenario for the Hawthorn forward line structure in 2017 is Vickery taking McEvoy's ruck/forward spot and McEvoy taking more of the ruck responsibilities. The other option is playing Marc Pittonet as first ruck and leaving McEvoy in his 2016 role which would leave Vickery as a spare parts man, fighting Ryan Schoenmakers and Tim O'Brien for a spot to support Roughead inside 50. They're not paying Ty big free agent money to play in the magoos, though. It all adds up to him being undrafted in fantasy leagues, but maybe a free agent pick up if he catches fire.
