Tristan Xerri has the scalp of no less than Max Gawn on his belt already this season, albeit Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin attributed that to a family illness in the presser after the game. Xerri is vying with Gawn and Max Grundy for the title of #1 ruckman, and while he doesn't have the supreme tap skills of Jarrod Witts or the all-round game in between stoppages of Tim English, he could be one of the top two fantasy scorers in the ruck position by season's end. Today he meets Witts, who will probably edge him in hit outs but will get the run around from the more mobile Roo.

Tristan Xerri was one of the more successful cash cow options in early 2022 fantasy action, assuming the number one ruck mantle from Todd Goldstein at North Melbourne and putting up scores good enough to start as your R2 in salary cap competitions. He returns from a short-term injury this week and deserves serious consideration to come back into your team for today's game, especially given absences of other premium rucks and the late withdrawal today of Braydon Preuss. He still has cash to accumulate leading into the bye period.
Don't bust out Xerri yet
Casting aside previous problems with osteitis pubis, Tristan Xerri played a full season of VFL in his third listed year in a ruck tandem with Tom Campbell, also resting forward to average 18 hit outs and a goal. It is probably a year or two before Xerri develops into a fully-fledged ruckman, so if you are looking for a handcuff for Todd Goldstein you should probably look elsewhere as it's Campbell who would play over him.
Late blossom for Xerri
In his second year in the AFL, Tristan Xerri remains very raw and unlikely to play to AFL in 2019, particularly as he is carrying osteitis pubis. As a ruck/forward, he is at the bottom of the depth charts. Barring rapid development, it is difficult to see Xerri being fantasy relevant in 2019 as he has a lot of growing up to do and there is no solution to that other than time.
Not quite Xerri ripe
Unlike most of his peers, Tristan Xerri played a few games of VFL in his last junior season, twice passing 20 hit outs while adding nine disposals per game. That is a good base for Xerri, though players of his type are usually very late bloomers so he is not going to be relevant for fantasy for a long while.
