After injuries derailed his 2017 and 2018 campaigns, sharpshooter Tory Dickson reclaimed his forward 50 position in 2019, becoming a consistent contributor on his way to kicking 24 goals. A 103-point showing against the Hawks indicated his ceiling, surrounding by unappetising returns in the 40-60 range. Dickson is well into veteran territory and will have to fend off younger rivals for the medium-sized forward vacancy. Don't expect the old-timer to play every game, nor deliver startable fantasy scores. Dickson is better left undrafted.
End of the Tory?
After injuries derailed his 2017 and 2018 campaigns, sharpshooter Tory Dickson reclaimed his forward 50 position in 2019, becoming a consistent contributor on his way to kicking 24 goals. Dickson is well into veteran territory and will have to fend off younger rivals for the medium-sized forward vacancy. Don't expect the old-timer to play every game, nor deliver startable fantasy scores. Dickson is better left undrafted.
Tory story trails off
Following an injury-riddled two seasons, Tory Dickson enters the 2019 season looking to add firepower to the Bulldogs front half. Struggling for consistency with form, the premiership player was unable to play more than three games consecutively last campaign. The Bulldog failed to impact the scoreboard in line with his historical averages, dropping to a goal per game output. Receiving a one-year contract in early September, Dickson needs a clean bill of health and an increase in production to continue his career. The acquisition of Sam Lloyd is likely to provide direct competition for the medium-sized forward as the club continues to search for an answer to their scoring woes. Never a fantasy scorer of repute, Dickson will continue that trend til retirement.
New kick off for Dickson
Off-season surgery on his groin meant Tory Dickson started 2017 late, carried some soreness and never got fully match fit, yo-yoing between levels to start and finish in the VFL. At his best from 2015 he showed he can deliver a couple of goals per game from limited opportunity with excellent set shot accuracy. Dickson is now the wrong side of 30 and there are no guarantees that he will ever be able to overcome what could turn into a chronic problem, something that plagued a similar player in Jason Porplyzia late in his career. Even in hot form, however, he does not accumulate enough to excite fantasy interest.
