Following a severe leg break in the first round of the 2018 season, winger Tom Scully produced almost a full slate of senior appearances in his first at the Hawks. While his fitness has never been in question, the former Demon and Giant produced his second lowest disposal output across his career and made the least number of tackles in a role more concentrating on defensive running than getting ball in hand. Expectations on Scully will be higher two seasons on from injury. A tireless runner throughout his time at the Giants, coach Alastair Clarkson will be hopeful he can produce likewise this time round. A roughly average fantasy scorer during his peak seasons, there is little to tempt coaches even following likely physical improvement, as Clarko is highly unlikely to tell him to chase the footy instead of covering space.

Tom Scully was a forgotten man at GWS last season, with some talk that he may never play again with some fairly serious chronic issues with an ankle. The Hawks managed to recover Jaeger O'Meara's career from the scrap heap and they will hope to perform the same magic trick with Scully, whose endurance running ability is unparalleled in the league, even better than that of new teammate Isaac Smith. Fantasy coaches searching for a bargain will hope brown & gold lightning can strike twice.
Fitness is out there for Scully
A shock trade during the off season, Tom Scully arrives at the Hawks looking to overcome a serious ankle injury from early last year. Known for his extraordinary tank, Scully spent the most time on ground for any midfielder during 2017 at 91%. Producing just on four inside 50s per game, the former number one selection proved a driving force for the Giants. Scully begun running in January, although isn’t expected to play early. This trade was realised in part due to the fact that the Giants held grave concerns Scully would struggle to overcome the ankle injury. HFC rehabilitation staff have had some recent success, with Jaeger O’Meara managing a 20 game season after missing the best part of three years. At his best, Scully has been a dependable on-field midfielder for fantasy. Pouncing late in the draft or off the free agent pool may be your best bet.
