All the boxes were ticked for Tom Langdon until a knee injury struck him down in round 9. After close to two months of unsuccessful attempted rehab, the club opted for surgery which ended the versatile key defender's season. Removing his injury-affected game, Langdon went about his business at just under 70ppg, slightly lower than we've come to expect from previous years. Langdon will be hopeful for a round 1 berth but will need to prove his fitness over the summer for that to be the case. Considering that he's a mainstay for Nathan Buckley's backline when fit, and keeping in mind that his responsibilities have drifted more towards man marking over the years, a tail end selection with the expectation of consistent 70s wouldn't be remiss.

Langdon stays on
Despite an offer from the Swans, Tom Langdon elected to stay with the Magpies in the off season. His 2016 and 2017 campaigns were hampered by persistent knee and ankle injuries but he managed to stay fit for the majority of 2018. His disposal tally hovers around 20, with serviceable scores coming on days when he notches up marks and tackles. As expected with any tall defender, Langdon’s scores fluctuate depending on how accountable he is made to be and how many cheap possessions he accumulates. Fantasy coaches would hope that Langdon could replicate his 2015 form, when he averaged 80 points. This Magpie warrants a pick in the middle rounds to bolster defensive lines.
Langdon hangs on
An injury layoff for various back and knee problems lasted from round 6 of 2016 through to round 12 last season for Tom Langdon. He got back in the swing of things after the bye, and returned to the level he has been playing at since his first game. His better days feature more than 20 disposals, though this only happens half the time. Going into his fifth year, there should technically be some upside left in Langdon as his last two have been so injury-affected. On the flip side, his graph is way too spiky and hasn't smoothed out or shown much in the way of upward movement since his 2014 debut. He is the sort of fantasy asset whom it will be tempting to drop during the season.
