The Tigers were decimated by injury in the middle stages of 2019, which led to the move of Shane Edwards to half back, where he posted five startable fantasy scores and two sub-50s. Otherwise he spent all his time in his customary forward role interchanging in midfield, at which he is among the best in the league. He hit personal bests in disposals and marks, though his goal rate was the lowest since 2011. Edwards did not even make the squad of 40 for All-Australian honours, perhaps a reflection of his temporary status as a utility. If he does more of that as he continues his post-30 career he will turn into less of a Michael Walters and more of a Shaun Burgoyne, with the latter dropping off in his twilight as he was thrown wherever the coach thought there was a hole that week. He is a low-end starter in either position, with some variability.
Back hitch for Titch

Rich bling for Titch
Not since Cyril Rioli has a man been so lambasted for earning All-Australian honours while getting the ball in hand so seldom. Shane Edwards's twelfth season looked very similar to his previous 11 statistically, never quite reaching 20 disposals per game but at least adding three compared to his flag year. Edwards is very relevant for fantasy competitions based on exotic scoring formats. For those using basic stats... not so much. The debate will rage on endlessly as to whether he deserved the AA gong, but for fantasy coaches in Ultimate leagues, he's not going to excite them enough to bother about it.
You're rich, Titch!
Though he put up his worst basic numbers since before his 2010 breakout, Shane Edwards's game has always been more about quality than quantity and he deserved his premiership medal as much as any Tiger. Edwards tends to get more attention from opposition backmen as they know how good he can be, which limits his fantasy value in standard scoring leagues below that required for the baseline.
