Sam Switkowski is the premier pressure forward at Fremantle in the wake of the departure of Lachie Schultz to Collingwood in the off season, and it is in the months of August and September where his talents are most needed by his club. He is not a fantasy player by any stretch of the imagination, not even the type to fill his boots when playing minnow clubs as that is more the style of finishing flankers like Sturt and Frederick. His best work is done off the ball keeping the oppo back flankers busy, and with no Dan Houston in the Port Adelaide side today, his crucial job is a lot easier.

No skiing by Switkowski
A mature-aged selection plucked from the Box Hill Hawks, Samuel Switkowski became a fixture in the senior side as a harassing forward pocket with five tackles per outing, including 10 against the Bombers in round 22. The next step in Switkowski's development is to hit the scoreboard with regularity. There has been no suggestion that his forward craft results in positive fantasy scoring. Look elsewhere come draft day.
Switkowski is a zigzagger
It took until round 21 for small forward Sam Switkowski to make his debut last season, but he didn’t look out of place when the chance finally came. His first game was relatively quiet, although his second opportunity in round 23 against the Pies was more impressive with 17 touches, five marks and a goal. If Switkowski can battle hard over the preseason and show a good run of JLT form, he’ll put pressure on more established players for the pressuring small forward role, with mature-ager Lachlan Schultz also fighting for that spot. The competition is too tight to guarantee Switkowski a good run in 2019, so he’s better left undrafted.
Switkowski gets a call
Recruited as a mature-aged player from the VFL, Sam Switkowski averaged a goal from a dozen disposals for 55 fantasy points for Box Hill last season. Freo haven't got a player like him in the senior team, and they need one. Switkowski will play seniors at some point, but that role is not fantasy gold.
