As he did in 2016, Sam Gilbert played his role as third tall defender and let Dylan Roberton do most of the creative work on the counter. Gilbert's scoring has dropped away since his glory days, as he doesn't have the licence to run up the ground much any more. The club will hope Hugh Goddard is fit enough to replace him in 2018.
Stay at home, Sam

Gilbert earns the halo
Sam Gilbert is arguably the most improved player in the competition, priced at only $221k in Dream Team at the start of the year, so if you were one of the owners that got him before the massive price rise, well done!
He is currently worth $335k, and you should expect his price to hover around that mark until the end of the season.
Gilbert playing well is a testament to how St Kilda are going, playing rebounding and fast football which Gilbert usually gets involved in with his outside marks and possessions.
He is coming back from an ankle injury which only lasted one week, which will please many Dream Team and Super Coach owners.
Expect Gilbert to play more of a Joel Bowden role as Max Hudghton comes back and solidifies the St Kilda defence, although Gilbert may also go up forward or have a run in the midfield which will help his scores.
