After Ryan Schoenmakers' 2016 was plagued by groin issues, he was unable to recapture the form from the 2015 finals. Dropped after the round 1 disaster, he was brought in for the second half of the season when Jack Gunston moved to defence, but failed to make a meaningful contribution as a full forward with 11 goals in 11 games. Schoenmakers is often criticised for his failure to read the play, an issue that causes concerns at both ends of the ground. As contributions grow from the developing Tim O’Brien with Gunston probably returning to attack, the left footer will have difficulty cementing a spot in the 22. He will not deserve selection in fantasy drafts.
