While tested across half back in last year's preseason matches, Robbie Fox lined up mostly on a half forward flank. A disappointing senior stat sheet very similar to that of 2018 thrice featured single-figure possession counts - yin and yang compared with his form at reserve level, collecting nearly 30 touches and eight tackles from six showings. Fox has proven his ability and want for the footy but is yet to replicate in the AFL. With a focus on next generation youth, his games tally and averages should increase. Until he proves himself at senior level, leave him undrafted.
Fox needs more blood

The elastic Mister Fox
The mature-aged Robbie Fox took all the right steps in 2018, playing 10 senior games without solidifying his role. He rotated through the midfield, rebounded from defence and spent a match in the forward pocket as well. While Fox has showed signs of his scoring ability, his floor is very low and his consistency needs work. Fox will have to battle with a host of semi-regulars for a definite spot in the 22, no easy feat for a player developing a reputation as a utility. Expect Fox to feature at stages throughout the season, but until we see him consistently deliver high-quality fantasy scores, he should remain crossed off our lists. For now, he’s a hard pass.
From henhouse to doghouse
Drafted as a mature-aged playe from the VFL, Fox appeared thrice at AFL level early last season in serviceable fashion for rates of 13 touches and five tackles. Knee and then ankle injuries meant he did not return to the seniors after round 4, though he had 37 disposals in one of his eight NEAFL games. As a depth midfielder, Fox will again likely spend most of the year in the reserves. If injury strikes a couple of the Swans midfielders in preseason, Fox's draft value will skyrocket with more opportunity to play off a wing taking feeds from one of the best engine rooms in the business. Otherwise, he should be left undrafted.
