Freed up from the occasional tagging roles of 2018, Riley Knight had his best return in his fifth listed season of 15 games averaging 16 touches, five marks and four tackles. His contested rate plummeted nine points to 31% and his best stat was marks, implying a very outside role, but his disposal efficiency dropped by a point to just on 70% which is ordinary for that position. If Adelaide wants to rise above the mediocrity of the past two years and regain its place among the top echelons on the ladder, it can't keep validating stat lines like those of Knight with continued selection. Then again, David Mackay played 200 games for the Crows so what would I know. Whatever KPIs Knight is ticking, they don't show up in basic fantasy scores. Avoid.

Knight just a pawn
Preseason ankle surgery and midseason hamstring tendinitis restricted Riley Knight to eight games, in which the team went 7-1. He's not quite that important to the side, but he did claim some tagging scalps in Dayne Beams and Joel Selwood in between some forward duties. Knight's personal fantasy output is nowhere near worthy of consideration for draft leagues, even if he moves more permanently to a HFF and gains forward eligibility. If fit and in form, though, he can nullify one of your premium mids for a week.
Checkered past for Knight
Plagued by ankle problems in his previous two seasons, Riley Knight started last year in the seniors before a hamstring further derailed his progress. He returned for good in round 15, but only broke 20 possessions twice with an average of 15. He was sent to tag in midfield on the likes of Trent Cotchin and Joel Selwood, and put forward tags on Jason Johannisen and Jarrad McVeigh. Knight is on the fringes of the best 22 at Adelaide, and has had to do jobs for his coach to stay in the team. His role is unlikely to include instructions to accumulate, as there are plenty of better Crows who can do that. His average is skating towards relevance, but he's a classic replacement-level player with low upside who is not going to make a difference in your team.
