While there were some surprise selections late in the season during Richmond's flag run, one candidate who didn't make the big time was Riley Collier-Dawkins, who played out a full season of VFL action including two flashy running goals and four contested marks in the grand final victory. His low disposal rate of 14 has to be one reason, and his execrable disposal efficiency by foot of 46% may be another. The major knock on him is an almost complete lack of spread to receive on the outside. Collier-Dawkins is yet another example of a footy team gradually morphing into an army of blokes who look and play like their coach. The Tigers list is full of hard men who crack in at the contest like Damien Hardwick did in his glory days, which means that RCD's one-wood is shared by a lot of his teammates, and he needs another trick in the bag. He may get games early covering for injury to another Dimma clone in Jack Graham, and we shall see if he's more than a one-trick pony.
Riley's life not so easy

RCD needs some V8
A late growth spurt has given Riley Collier-Dawkins the body shape of the prototype tall midfielder, which is part of why he went in the first round last November. His endurance is under question though, going at fantasy scoring rates of 67 in the TAC Cup and 49 at the Championships. Collier-Dawkins will be a good player in the fullness of time, if his highlight reel is any guide. He is the sort of high-ceiling youngster who merits a full apprenticeship at the lower level as his body fills out, which means this is not the year to pick him for fantasy purposes.
