The Crows had a terrible 2018 and Richard Douglas was no different, starting with a suspension for biffing Zach Merrett in round 1, four different in-game knocks culminating in a month off with an ankle injury, and his worst fantasy average for six years. It is easy to conclude that Douglas will get passed by younger conveyances this season, as 32 is fairly old for a B-grade footballer. He should go undrafted in your league as his trailing average is significantly below startability for pure midfielders. Perhaps a late-career move to a forward pocket might unlock some value.
Boogie not for Dick Douglas

Vintage drop of Douglas
After looking like his career might be on the skids, Richard Douglas started 2017 very brightly in midfield and was one of the lesser-known reasons why the Crows won the minor premiership, in a team that has struggled for depth in the centre in recent years. His average dropped nine points after the byes, though he had an excellent finals series. The arrival of Bryce Gibbs and departure of Charlie Cameron is likely to mean Douglas is rotated forward more in 2018, a role he has played in previous years. He hasn't got the toe of Charlie on the spread and his game is not based on marks, so he may even play a deeper pressure forward role. Either way, there is plenty of downside here.
Douglas shows Crows how
After an average first six games of the season, Richard Douglas has fired up the jets and become one of the breakout players of the season. Douglas' averages are up by over 20 in both forms of the game, from 69 to a touch under 90 in Supercoach and from 65 to 87 in Dream Team, which has seen his price going up over $100,000.
His blistering form at least warrants consideration as a trade option, averaging 116.67 and 110.83 in his last six games in SC and DT respectively. The forward is averaging over 20 possessions a game, but his tackling is also pumping up his scores, with 29 in the last 6 rounds.
With Adelaide’s football improving, this unique pick (less than 2% in both forms), could improve on his scores and be the player to get you the league win.
