Veteran key defender Nathan Brown signed on for a further year and will aim to continue providing leadership to an oft-besieged back line. The former Magpie started mostly in the defensive goalsquare, regularly holding his own against highly-rated opponents. Brown will face competition from a resurgent Logan Austin at full back as the Saints explore the next generation in their defensive spine. Key defenders and fantasy scoring are like cats and dogs, rarely are they friendly toward the other.

Frown at Brown
A dour key defender from day one of his career, Nathan Brown will carry on in exactly the same role in 2019 and is unlikely to register many fantasy points. Brown shouldn't be on the radar of any fantasy coaches.
Down low medal for Brown
Congratulations must go to Nathan Brown, who in his first season after crossing from Collingwood delivered the worst fantasy scores in a 20+ game season in AFL history, beating the record held by Simon Prestigiacomo by a point. Brown is a poster boy for those who decry fantasy production and want to value players based on their contribution to the team, as he was very serviceable at full back though the top two in the Coleman race gave him touch ups.
