Nathan Broad is drawing some perhaps undeserved comparisons with recently retired teammate Alex Rance, settling in full back after spending some time in ruck and forward roles during his development. He is not really a Rance clone, more gangly with better speed off the mark, similar to a Trent Croad or David Rhys-Jones type of days gone by. As a fantasy player he has the typically low floor of a full back who often has to stay on the back shoulder of the opposition's gun forward, but on the odd occasion he can participate in kick-arounds as well. A daily special only.

One classy Broad
Given more responsibility to stay close to a man post the LTI to Alex Rance, Nathan Broad fully earned a second premiership medal without troubling the stat collectors much. Rance's retirement will mean Broad stays in a more traditional key defender role, in which he still doesn't get enough of the footy to stir any interest among fantasy coaches.
Broad shoulders load
Backing up his fairytale ride to the 2017 premiership, Nathan Broad served out a club suspension for inappropriate behaviour and played every game when fit as a third tall defender, without touching the ball much. Others in the Tiger backline have far more licence to create on the rebound than he does, so let Broad follow his man with fist cocked and look elsewhere.
This Broad ain't loose
In a year full of unlikely events, the premiership medal hanging around Nathan Broad's neck after his 12th senior game was possibly the most amazing. He concentrated on defensive roles rather than the rebound game from his VFL days, never reaching 20 disposals and not getting free for marks all that often. Broad is a football story, not a fantasy story. His highlights mostly consisted of spoils against taller and better opponents when he looked out of the contest. He's not in the Luke Hodge mould with ball in hand, though he played the same defensive role in Richmond's recreation of the Hawks' 2008 flag run.
