Matthew Jefferson is into his second season of senior AFL, having spent the first two years after being drafted in 2022 developing in the VFL. He does not possess imposing height or gorilla-style bulk, nor does he bring insane goalkicking accuracy or flexibility to contribute much in ruck. Despite being a first-round draft pick, in other words, he is not on the same level as a King brother. That is not to say that he doesn't belong at the level, as decent tall players are hard to find, and if he can provide a high floor to his output despite a low ceiling, he'll keep his spot.
